Brazilian variety in Lithuania

The Brazilian strain of coronavirus probably did not spread in the town of Pumpėnai, Pasvalys district, where it was detected last week, say representatives of the municipality and the National Center for Public Health (NVSC).

“The situation is under control: we have no more registered diseases there to date, and there is nothing to talk about the spread when there are no new diseases,” Dovilė Brajinskienė, Head of the Communicable Disease Management Division of the Panevėžys Department of the NVSC told BNS on Monday.

However, so far more results are expected from the sample sequencing studies, since it is not ruled out that the variety has spread outside the campus.

According to the NVSC, although an epidemiological study of the case was conducted, the exact route of infection could not be determined.

“We cannot simply answer that this is the case, but most likely we will make that hypothesis and assume that it was introduced, as much as individual cases,” said D. Brajinskienė.

Owl system

With the launch of mass vaccination against the coronavirus on Monday, the vaccination registration system is stagnating: it does not verify identity.

The identities of the people are confirmed through the Electronic Government Portal, for which the Information Society Development Committee is responsible.

“It’s just that the system is very busy and we are trying to get started right now. The flow of people is so great that they hacked into the system,” Gintautas Mežetis, director of the institution, told BNS on Monday.

“We are working in a working group so that we can start and find that solution in practice,” he added.

According to G. Mažetis, the system is expected to be put in order “as soon as possible”.

Among other things, the tightening of the e-government gateway system is also causing problems to access other services. For example, pick up an opportunity passport, connect to the e-health system.
