Health experts emphasize that milk and its products are one of the main sources of complete protein, it is also a way to ensure that the body needs calcium. Therefore, it is advisable to include these products in your daily diet.

Only not everyone can take them due to lactose intolerance. According to doctors, this ailment usually manifests itself in bloating, pain, cramps, diarrhea. Therefore, for people who do not tolerate dairy products and lactose, it is worth choosing dietary alternatives to belactose, such as homemade sunflower, soybeans, almonds, coconut milk ”, advises B. Baratinskaitė.

On that occasion, the food expert suggests trying to prepare the king of Lithuanian national cuisine, cold borscht, from some of the aforementioned products. According to her, this unconventional, different but really delicious dish can surprise vegans and lactose intolerant alike, as well as regular foodies.

Sunflower milk cold beets

Will need:

  • half a glass of sunflower seeds,
  • the same amount of cashews,
  • jar of pickled beets,
  • a fresh cucumber,
  • a couple of onion leaves,
  • a pinch of dill,
  • salt, black pepper,
  • 1 lemon

An alternative to these cold borscht kefir is made by slicing sunflower seeds soaked overnight in a grinder. Also add cashews to the crusher, pour squeezed lemon juice, add salt, add 3 glasses of water. Shake everything well and pour into a bowl. Then add the pickled beets, chopped onion leaves, cucumbers, dill, season with pepper. Pour in the available mixture of sunflower, walnuts and water and taste.

“Eating cold borscht with potatoes is a classic. However, this side dish can also be made healthy. This will require potatoes, salt, pepper and ground sweet peppers. Everything is very simple. Preheat the oven, cut the potatoes with straws to the thickness of a finger, sprinkle with spices and fry until the vegetables are golden brown. Such a cold beet garnish is healthy, delicious, without bad fats or unnecessary calories, “says B.Baratinskaitė.

Cold soymilk borscht

Will need:

  • 1 liter of soy milk,
  • jar of pickled beets,
  • 1 fresh cucumber
  • several onion letters,
  • a pinch of dill,
  • salt and pepper,
  • a jar of Greek soy yogurt,
  • 1 lemon

Pour the soy milk into a bowl, squeeze the lemon juice, mix everything. After waiting 5 minutes for the milk to thicken, add the yogurt, add the beets, chopped onion leaves, cucumbers, add the dill, salt and pepper. You will give the dish an even better flavor if you freeze it in the fridge, so be patient and try this cold vegan borscht.

“The listed ingredients, in addition to soy products, are already traditional. However, diversifying these cold beets is really easy. Just add radish, avocado, or even canned corn.
