According to the advisor to the mayor of Vilnius, Karolis Žukauskas, the registry for the youngest age group has been reopened to exhaust all vaccine stocks.
The municipality had made it possible for those over 35 to register on Friday, but then all vaccinations were reserved.
At 11 o’clock in Vilnius, there were still just under a thousand places left to register for the AstraZeneca vaccine.
This vaccine is only given to people 35 years of age or older through Monday. So the municipality expects 23 thousand. Pfizer vaccines, about half of which will be for the first vaccination of people 45 and older, and about half for the booster shot.
Vilnius has been announcing the opening of vaccination for younger and younger groups for several weeks in a row, when it received a large number of additional vaccines for other municipalities. The Ministry of Health claimed that this was due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the capital.
On Monday, preparations are being made throughout Lithuania for the transition to the age group 55 and over. The aim is to harmonize vaccination rates, which currently vary from one municipality to another.
