“The administration of additional vaccines will help to manage the deteriorating situation, but the way in which they were administered is unacceptable. On Monday, the Ministry of Health announced that the vaccination centers in the capital have decided to allocate 46,000. 512 doses of vaccine. According to Health Minister Arūnas Dulkis, this was done due to the particularly bad epidemiological situation in the Vilnius region.
R. Šimašius told reporters on Monday that the city received an additional 19,000. dose of the vaccine, although he said he did not know why he decided.
“If we are better prepared, because we are getting more vaccinated or because everyone is receiving it, it is difficult for me to say. Although breaking news, but very happy,” he said.
The mayors of the municipalities from which the vaccine doses were redistributed say the decisions were made hastily and without warning.
Klaipeda Mayor Vytautas Grubliauskas told LRT radio that this “is not a very fun and enjoyable event.” He noted that not only residents of the capital can register in Vilnius.
“I called two acquaintances in the capital who said they had searched their parents, one from Molėtai and the other from Ukmergė. Such decisions, especially on the last day, at the last minute, do not really bring a mutual understanding,” said the holder of the port city.
The municipality of the capital informed the BNS that until today there is the possibility of vaccination outside the place of residence, which can also be applied in other municipalities.
According to the calculations of the capital, there are about 100 thousand people who live only in Vilnius, but whose declared place of residence is elsewhere.
