The minister said that the first case of the new variety was registered at the end of April.
“In early April, it was established that a new breed had been established in 13 residents of the Anykščiai district. Measures were taken, the Anykščiai district municipality increased the scope of testing. (…) The vigilance of the police and the control of people in self-isolation has been strengthened. (…) NVSC continues to monitor the situation and work with it, ”said the Minister.
He claimed that the variety first recorded in Anykščiai was also found in other cities. They are all interconnected, the minister said.
“Now we know that this variety has already been observed in Vilnius, Kaunas, Jonava, Šakiai, Anykščiai, Kėdainiai, Kazlų Rūda, Širvintos and Šilutė. Where exactly it is brought, what events or meetings it distributes, we do not know. We only know the fact that these are single entry cases in Lithuania, they are epidemiologically related, ”said the Minister of Health.
So far, two endangered varieties have been discovered in Lithuania: 1,646 cases of the British variety and 10 cases of the South African variety.
In Anykščiai district, according to data from Wednesday, a total of 43 cases of a yet unidentified strain of coronavirus were recorded in Lithuania, according to the Utena Department of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC). According to the NVSC, the new strains were also infected with coronavirus in 8 people who had already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The minister said the idea of vaccinating a person who brought their elderly loved one for vaccinations is being considered.
“These measures are not temporary”
Starting Thursday, the quarantine will be released for those with immunity, who will be able to communicate in larger groups.
However, A. Dulkys emphasized that the current security measures are not temporary, they will become a reality for life.
“The point is, whether you’re vaccinated with a single dose, a full schedule, or sick, in all cases, keep your distance, wear masks, and make certain tools become a part of our lives. The fact that is vaccinated does not mean that you can pass a red light, you will still be hit by a car. The crisis and the virus have brought a new culture into our lives, it will become part of our lives. We have to understand that all these measures do not they are temporary, they will accompany us for a long time ”, urged A. Dulkys.
