The Ministry of Health announced last week that companies and organizations with at least one hundred employees are invited to be vaccinated. They are vaccinated if there are vaccines left after the priority groups to be vaccinated that week. In addition, priority is given to companies with outbreaks of the virus.
Vidmantas Janulevičius, president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, told the BNS news agency that there is a shortage of vaccines in both large and small companies, and that neither the Vilnius, Kaunas nor Klaipėda regions can boast of speed.
“In the food sector, the process is going well, everything is fine, the vaccination started a month ago and today 80% have been vaccinated similarly. employees of companies that work directly with food, on conveyor belts, packaging lines. Only in fish farms is the situation a little worse, but vaccination has been carried out there. Oh, when it comes to larger industrial companies, we can’t be happy about that yet, “V. Janulevičius told BNS.
The situation in companies is different
Rokiškio sūris, one of the largest milk processing companies, has already vaccinated 350 of the 860 people. According to the head of the company Dalius Trumpas, vaccination is going smoothly, all those who wanted the Astra Zeneca vaccine have been vaccinated.
“But that kindness comes from two parts: the district government looks kindly, but we also contribute much of our work and administrative resources. We stand in line ourselves, we say when a person will come. We are doing the work that the company should do. the company’s primary health care institution and we are already providing a list, ”D. Trump told BNS.
According to him, the company does not apply exceptional conditions to vaccinated employees, but allows them to be vaccinated during work and not come to work the next day if they feel bad.
At that time, vaccination in the Lithuanian Railways group is just beginning, from about 9 thousand. So far about 100 employees have been vaccinated. Rolandas Šlepetys, the company’s director of safety and risk management, told BNS that there are more people who want to get vaccinated, but not everyone has had the opportunity yet, some have rejected the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
“We have the data. They vary: about 5% of workers do not want to be vaccinated for administrative work, but in production, road workers and people in ordinary professions want to be vaccinated about 55%,” said R. Šlepetys .
According to him, the company is not very active in promoting vaccination, but the employees were interviewed and their lists were given to the municipalities. They inform the staff, then they go to get vaccinated. R. Šlepetys did not rule out the possibility that, for example, in Vilnius, people could be vaccinated in a company.
According to him, some activities in the company are sensitive and cannot be interrupted, so if employees refused to vaccinate, periodic tests could be applied.
“There are traffic controllers – like air traffic controllers, they handle all the traffic, they work in eight rooms in one room. For us it is important that there is no virus so they can be vaccinated. We appeal to that awareness, we speak, and yes someone refuses to be vaccinated, we can apply tests, but we cannot force it, “said R. Šlepetys.
At that time, employees working in various cities for Vičiūnai Group, a producer of crab sticks and other surimi and fish products, began vaccinating last week. According to the company representative, Mindaugas Snicorius, the majority expressed their desire to be vaccinated.
“As far as we know, the vaccination process in Kaunas and Plungė, the cities where most of our employees work, went smoothly and most of those who wanted it have already received the first vaccine”, M. Snicorius, director of communications of the Vičiūnai Group, he told BNS.
In the Klaipėda Free Economic Zone (FEZ), 400 company employees were vaccinated with Astra Zeneca on Saturday. The management company Klaipėda FEZ took advantage of the opportunity provided by the city municipality to vaccinate large groups. Vaccination was carried out in the FEZ territory.
“It was a shocking residual distribution from Astra Zeneca, we had to deliver lists of people who wanted to be vaccinated within 24 hours, they came to us in the area and the employees of the companies were vaccinated according to the indicated time. We are all looking forward to it, maybe there is still that opportunity, maybe there are still leftovers, ”said Indrė Dudonienė, communication manager at Klaipėda FEZ.
Last Saturday, the companies Retal Baltic Films, Orion Global PET, Vėjo projektai, Fortum Klaipėda, Albright Lietuva, Lavango Engineering LT, Glassbel Baltic, Baltijos transporto sistemos, Lindstrom, Vingės logistika, Mestilla and other employees.
