“As you know, yesterday the first 4.8 thousand people were delivered to Lithuania. Vaccine shipment doses. It was public knowledge that the manufacturer was temporarily suspending distribution. Today, during the Government meeting, we received an official request from the manufacturer to keep this vaccine in the central warehouse for the time being and receive information on the subsequent use of the vaccine in the coming days, ”said Health Minister A. Dulkys, announced after the Government meeting.

Senior US health officials on Tuesday recommended stopping Johnson & Johnson’s vaccination against COVID-19, and the company, for its part, said it was delaying distribution of the vaccine in Europe.

“Our decisions now do not concern any decision of the European Medicines Agency or the State Medicines Control Agency. We only have the manufacturer’s own request,” he assured.

The minister assured that there are no plans not to vaccinate with this vaccine.

“We thought about using it … According to government decisions, we need to vaccinate diplomats, people who need to go abroad,” he said.

The second dose will make the vaccination go faster.

According to A. Dulkis, the second dose of Vaxzevria (formerly AstraZeneca) can be vaccinated before 12 weeks, but only for certain groups.

He clarified that this decision was made out of fear that the second dose of vaccination would coincide with the examinations.

“These will be individual decisions of the vaccination centers,” he said.

According to the minister, the intention is to allow people to choose how long they want to be vaccinated: 4 or 12 weeks.

“Today we sent an explanatory letter to the vaccination centers,” said A. Dulkys.

Delaying the second dose to July would allow 1.5 million to be vaccinated. people

A.Dulkys also recalled that vaccination with the second dose of Pfizer is being considered after 21 days after the first vaccination.

“We have the opinion of independent experts, our experts and specialists work, we evaluate other aspects and we will make an appropriate decision in the near future,” he said.

If it was decided that it would be possible to delay the second dose to July 1, according to the minister’s calculations, at least 1.5 million wives could be vaccinated in Lithuania with at least the first dose.

“As we know, the first dose brings a fundamental change,” he said.

Korona Stop did not work

On Wednesday, the minister acknowledged that the “Korona Stop” mobile application was not the best solution.

This is an application that tells you if a person was close to a person infected with a coronavirus.

“I don’t think that application was our best solution. I think that after this pandemic, after this stage, when we look to the future, I think there are many lessons to be learned and, apparently, we need to learn, as such, its functionalities, how it is advertised, the benefits of its use – apparently, they should be rethought ”, – said A. Dulkys when asked if he is not planning to use it when creating a passport of opportunities.

According to him, the use of Korona Stop differs ten times compared to similar applications in Scandinavia.

I.Šimonytė: Exemptions will not be related to the opportunity passport

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said Wednesday that future quarantine releases will not be related to the passport of opportunities.

Some of the activities, he said, will not be vacated immediately and not as of Monday.

“This time, we decided to distribute it in two weeks in stages so that people could test before starting work,” the prime minister explained.

The government intends to extend the quarantine regime throughout the month of May, however, its terms will change significantly. The final decision on the matter is scheduled for Thursday.

The government on Wednesday did not make decisions on the proposals of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (EIM) immunity, or otherwise the possibility of using a passport. It was agreed to first find out the possibilities for municipalities to test people more widely and only later decide whether to allow such a passport to be used not only for those who have been sick or vaccinated, but also for those who have a negative coronavirus. proof.
