The COVID-19 vaccine in a car will be open to an unlimited number of passengers, the government decided Monday.

Until now, it was forbidden to have vehicles in groups of more than two people or more than one family or household member. The exceptions apply only to urban, long-distance, and suburban passenger vehicles, or to and from work.

Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys emphasized that the exception is necessary considering that “many people, especially the elderly, have difficulties getting to the place of vaccination against COVID-19”, while the objective is to facilitate the vaccination of other people.

“It is proposed to complement the subparagraph (…) of the Order with an exception that allows people to be in larger groups in vehicles when traveling to or from a COVID-19 vaccination site,” the resolution states.

Difficult situation in the capital
