Since he was little he tried to meet the expectations of others.
At a very young age, just 19 years old, Jurga became a mother and had a daughter, Rugilė. At the time, she was a student, so she took an academic license for a year, but then immediately returned not only to science, but also took various jobs.
“In order to work nights, I worked as a hotel manager, attended conferences in the mornings, and when I returned I spent as much time as possible with my family. I did everything at once, perhaps in my youth it seems much easier … Although, of course, there was very little time left to sleep, – recalls J.Kančienė. “Yes, life has flown, but I am very grateful to my grandparents who helped and cared for my daughter.”

However, in adolescence, Jurga’s biggest dream was to become a clothing designer, only due to the influence of others, she took a completely different path. After studying business administration and management, she worked for a long time as a director in a bank, pharmaceutical company and other places.
“Everyone has been told that I have to study serious science, and in my youth, especially in our time, it is difficult to decide for myself what to do. I worked where I needed to be, raised a daughter, and kept trying to be independent because I was brought up that a woman had to earn money for herself, pursue goals, and be responsible for herself. Life has brought so many things that I couldn’t afford to do what I would like to do, ”says J. Kančienė.
Turning this way, Jurga raised a daughter, whom he admits to having grown up with. The mother wanted her daughter to have goals when she grew up, to see a good example, and now she is happy with a smile on her face that the plan went quite well.
“I was constantly in a combat state, knowing that I always had to do everything right, fit into the frames and act as society demands. So far I have complaints, I consider that maybe I gave my daughter very little time as a child, but I just had no other choice. Work continued, life changed and I had to go through many different and difficult situations, ”says J. Kančienė.
I was constantly in a combat state, knowing that I always had to do everything right, fit into the frames, and behave as society demands.
Jurga had to experience crises both in relationships and at work, but in this way he gained a lot of strength, discovered new values and learned to pursue goals. One of the most painful moments was taking care of his grandmother until her death, which was like George’s re-perception of what was important in life.
“Childbirth has helped me discover a strange sensation: when a uterus, realizing that it has no other option, has to accept circumstances and wait for labor to end. In the most difficult situations in life, I always tried to understand that I have to wait for this process, no matter how much it hurts, because it will still end and we will move on, ”says J. Kančienė.
He decided to radically change his life
After the death of his grandmother, Jurga took a long time to recover, but at the same time admits that he felt free. Grandma had a huge impact on his life, a strong set of values, and when she died, Jurga felt that no one was regulating her life anymore and that she could do whatever she wanted.
“Until then, I had completely put aside the desire to become a designer. Sometimes I thought it was a shame I didn’t implement it, but I thought I was living the right life and it was too late for my dream. It seemed like when you were over 30, you spoons in the afternoon and you didn’t do anything anymore. After my grandmother left, there was a turning point in me and I realized that it is never too late to do what I really want. I started to evaluate the quality of life, to consider if I really do what my heart tells me, ”recalls J.Kančienė.

Jurga admits that she is tired of trying to please people, being trapped in a box, and realizing that what she is doing is not for her at all. At that time, J. Kančienė experienced a series of psychological difficulties, experienced anxiety and panic attacks and suddenly realized that he was not listening to his inner self.
“At almost 40, when I was alive, give God, half my life, I wondered if I was feeling good. I was happy to have a family, a healthy daughter who learned to pursue her goals, but had completely forgotten about me. I worried about others all the time, and my own needs were put aside. I started to learn to listen to myself, to feel free, I stopped pretending and accepted myself as I really am, ”says J. Kančienė.
So Jurga finally decided to make a dream come true that was deeply pressured in her teens and started working as an interior designer. She studied hard, finished her courses, started working with her husband, an architect, but after a while she felt that something was still missing, so she decided to start her own brand “Jurga Kanco”.
“I was so fed up that no one was afraid of me. I crossed borders: I am a stubborn, goal-oriented woman. I was tired of the great gray mass I had to please, and I was so covered up … I thought I had nothing to lose anymore, and what difference did it make in how many years? I want to fulfill myself, do what I like and I don’t regret it in the least. Now I feel like I’ve done it my whole life, ”says J. Kančienė.
I thought I had nothing to lose anymore and what did my age matter?
Having decided that she could help people not only build a house, but also do her own work, she began creating loose, homemade clothing, bedding, and candles. The designer does not hide the fact that when she starts doing what she has always wanted, it feels great.
“I wondered if I was doing it because I didn’t fulfill the wish in my youth, or because I really like it. Now that the activity is evolving slowly, I can say that it was not just a fad to implement what I did not do after graduation. In fact, I really enjoy my work, only the whole time I hid it deeply. I don’t know what the future will be like, but now I don’t even think about it, “says J. Kančienė.
Jurga explains that for a long time she has not accepted high levels of consumerism, and since she was a child she has been educated to appreciate quality things and has grown up with the vision that it is better to have nothing to buy of poor quality. This is exactly what you are trying to convey and develop your products, but you recognize that it takes time to establish yourself in this market and find your customer base.
Today he is engaged in a beloved activity.
Now that he has been successfully developing his brand for some time, Jurga laughs and recalls how initially he was afraid to announce his cardinal changes to his family and see their reaction. However, she is happy to have received their strong support at that time.
“It was scary to think he was crazy. At first he was silent, said nothing, then a little worried about how things would be or I would turn out well, but he was very supportive. Rugilė kept telling me: “Mom, Variark! ”. There were moments of fear when I thought I would not make it, but a great desire always prevailed, ”says J. Kančienė.
Having defeated herself and realized her old dream when she was almost 40, Jurga says she has no regrets about her previous work experience. According to her, this gave her many lessons and taught her to communicate with clients.
“If he weren’t interested at all, he probably wouldn’t have worked. But in all my work, I communicated a lot with people. I can’t say that I was extremely professional, but I tried and convinced myself a thousand times that the most important thing was humanity and the ability to recognize the client as a personality. When you find a contact, all other things are much easier. I am very grateful for this time and lessons, ”says the designer.

In his previous job, he has acquired a great deal of knowledge in the field of management, and now he sometimes admits to even thinking that completing studies in the field of art alone is not enough. She thinks that such a person can be a great developer, but she will not know how to convey and communicate her product.
“I got a broader understanding than just creating an object and having it in my home. I don’t know what the next one will be like, but today I can say that I am involved in a beloved activity and it is for me like a second child “, – smiles J.Kančienė.
Only after many years, Jurga, determined to realize her dream, today encourages other women not to be afraid and never give up. She encourages determination, learning, doing, and then feeling how wonderful it is to finally do what you’ve always wanted.
“You do not have to think that it is too late or many years for you; most importantly, how we feel inside. It is never too late to learn, do not be afraid of the reactions of those around you, because it does not matter at all what Say. We have to learn to live our lives and listen to ourselves “, encourages the designer.
Don’t think that it is too late or that it is too many years for you; the most important thing is how we feel inside.
For those who have dreams, but still don’t dare to realize them, Jurga advises: they should take them and start doing them. According to her, you can always ask for help, consult or just speak openly, but the most important thing is to act.
“A rare young man can realize his wishes from a young age and knows what he wants to do. The time of up to 30 years should be taken as a time of his experiences and never be afraid to learn. And then I need to tell myself that I will. “I will not try, I will, urges Jurga. – I want to encourage everyone not to withdraw into themselves, to feel the inner drive, freedom and self-realization. Women can do a lot.”
