Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė asks residents to welcome the holiday home, that if this mission is successful, it may not be necessary to tighten the quarantine after Easter. It is true that not everyone listens to the authorities. Part of the population does not hide, they do not promise to stop traveling to their relatives during the holidays. And what do people who speak for themselves say?
Morbidity map of Širvinta – black, the number of cases is three times higher than the Lithuanian average. But some people still can’t stop moving a glass with friends or family or traveling during Easter.
Before Easter, the coronavirus spreads faster in the Širvintos district, where the two-week morbidity reaches 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, three times the Lithuanian average:
“See you at home, make a screech.”
“It just came to our knowledge then. I have a girlfriend, I need to go, a girlfriend will leave me now. I don’t know those driveways into the city, if I did, I’d actually drive. And in the woods.”
“I will be sitting home alone during Easter with the puppy Aira! You can not come! “
“Anyway, my sister lives in Vilnius, but she won’t come either, because somehow it’s not possible, it’s with my mom, my dad, I live here, all together a family of five. Everyone here with their families in quarantine, but whoever wants to, will definitely get past all firewalls.
The mayor of Širvintos explains that people were relaxed.
“Those who become friends with the family are sick, so it was some kind of celebration, or cooking roasts, we were together. Young people, especially young people who are tired of everything from studying at home and walking the wave of young people, young people are very sick, they have started to get to know each other, ”says Živilė Pinskuvienė, mayor of Širvintos district.
Holidays with relatives are planned not only by the people of Širvintos, but also by residents of other cities. Here are the residents of the capital who are already waiting for relatives who arrive by train:
“The children will come local in Klaipeda. Let’s celebrate. No one is sick, we meet every day.”
“Since my mother lives in the same house, she will only come as a guest.”
“I have a daughter, I am registered. I will go with my mother because I have a mother.”
“I will celebrate with my daughter in Kaunas district, Karmėlava. Enough is enough, I got home. “
“I really understand people’s well-being and I really apologize for that, I’m sorry and I would wholeheartedly like to travel with people.
“Especially staying home for the residents of Vilnius, the residents of Marijampolė. The varieties of the virus are very common in these regions, let’s really try to protect other areas where there are fewer, ”says Rolanda Lingienė, representative of the Center for Public Health.
Police say the Easter weekend inspections will be serious: more than 3,300 officers will be working on the roads and a lot of attention will be paid not only to fixed and mobile posts, but also to private spaces. so it will not be possible to bake shashliks silently in a group of family or friends from different households on rural tourism farms.
“The district police stations really know about these entertainment venues in their districts. Rural tourism farms are then unequivocally included in the patrol routes. Neighbors report that something is happening and our own proactive action, preventive patrols, we hear noise, we listen to music, we go out, we come, we look, ”says Commissioner General of Police Renatas Požėla.
“This weekend was a test and we are trying to learn those lessons. We saw congestion. It has been decided that the train passengers will also be checked, “Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė said.
The government urges to wait until next week to see if it is necessary to tighten the quarantine.
“If we try to celebrate the holidays safely and without risking communication at home between us and there is not a very significant pressure on the health system – it is more or less stable so far, the number of occupied beds is stable for a week – I think there may be some very special or strict decisions of the Government and manage to avoid them ”, says I. Šimonytė.
The strictest restrictions on circulation between municipalities for the return of Easter are valid until April 6.
