Johan Carlson, head of the health service, spoke of “a dramatic increase in the number of infections in many regions.” Among other things, it was planned to allow more visitors to concerts and football games, as well as to amusement parks.
As the number of new infections increases, Sweden extends restrictions on restaurants and coffee shops. They will still have to close at 8:30 p.m. but will still be able to sell takeout food and drinks, the prime minister said at a press conference.
There are also longer energy limits due to the number of people in sports stores and clubs.
“In order to live normally again, we need to reduce the spread of the infection,” Löfven said. “There can be no big Easter celebration.”
These measures are scheduled to expire on April 11. Now they will apply until May 3.
