Lithuanian police representative Ramūnas Matonis presented several options with explanations on when and to whom the funeral can be officially attended:
“1) in case of death of the mother of Vardenis Pavardenis and funeral in another municipality, he and / or his children can go and his spouse cannot;
2) in the event of the death of the mother or grandmother of Vardenis Pavardenis and of the funerals in his municipality of residence, both he and his spouse may be present;
3) after the death of a close friend (not a close relative) or friend of Vardenis Pavardenis, you cannot go to a funeral in another municipality;
4) in the event of the death of a close friend (not a close relative) or friend of Vardenis Pavardenis, he may attend a funeral in his municipality of residence, as well as the people with whom he forms a single household ”.
Documents will also be required
When you go to a funeral, the police will remind you which copies of documents to bring with you. And if you are traveling by car with family members, you will need more documents.
“When you go to the funeral, we recommend that you have a copy of the death certificate and / or confirmation from the funeral home regarding the date of the funeral. If you are traveling with your family and / or household members, it is necessary to have documents that prove these connections, ”says R. Matonis.
Call humanity
Aistė Šuksta, spokesperson for the Minister of Health, interviewed by tv3.lt, said that the wording of the quarantine restrictions also has an exception, which should allow both spouses to travel to the funeral of one of their relatives.
“It just came to our notice then. The quarantine restrictions and ruling will go into effect in December.
Yes, it could be defined differently, but we see that people have no difficulty traveling to funerals and other unplanned life events or disasters.
Everyone is watching consciously and humanely. There is also that line in the quarantine order, for especially important reasons it is possible to leave your municipality, which is that special reason ”, says the representative.
Indicates the duration of the restrictions
Professor Saulius Čaplinskas tv3.lt claims that such quarantine restrictions in Lithuania last too long.
“Necktie Kardonai, I lock up like and so on it’s just a temporary measure. They have been exhausted for a long time. They are only effective when they last longer than three to four weeks, then they start to wear off, and how long does it take us? Society is demotivated and the hostage syndrome continues to flare up. When a person cannot do anything, they get angry and begin to resist such illogical decisions, ”the virologist assesses the situation.
According to the expert, the much more important and effective means of controlling the virus are masks, washing hands and keeping your distance. According to S. Čaplinskas, it is necessary to learn to live with the virus.
“In my personal opinion, those restrictive measures need to be weighed heavily, especially if they are in place for so long. What matters is how people behave when they go to those funerals.
The emphasis should be on secure communication everywhere, as this virus will be around for a long time. In the summer there will be exactly the same, only the virus will be less. In autumn, everything will be active again.
The most important tools are masks, distance, surfaces, hands. “I and other experts from the World Health Organization are talking about the new reality that we need to adapt to the new rules,” says S. Čaplinskas.
