Jolanta Keburienė, President of the Lithuanian Ambulance Workers Union “Solidarumas” and the Lithuanian Union of Medical Institution Workers “Solidarumas”, distributed an appeal to Prime Minister Ingrid Šimonytė and Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkis, urging immediate involvement families of medical workers on the CO 19 infection list.

The union president noted that medical workers are constantly exposed to COVID-19 infection and that the vaccine protects against severe disease rather than the infection itself, putting family members of medical workers at high risk of get COVID-19 and get sick.

“Considering that the number of these diseases in the families of the medical institutions and on the joint farms is high and there have even been deaths, immediately include the members of the families and joint farms of the medical institutions on the list of Covid-19 vaccination priorities, “J. Keburiene.

It is added that in the United States and other countries, medical personnel and their families are vaccinated together.

The judges ask the same

Sigita Rudėnaitė, president of the Council of Judges, also expressed a request that at least the judges who work in the district courts be vaccinated against the coronavirus as a matter of priority.

“We were not among those who fulfilled important functions, now we are calling all instances to vaccinate those people in the district courts who have to hear the cases in an oral process. They are responsible for not infecting the person who came to court, so as not to infect the employees, ”said S. Rudėnaitė during the presentation of the activities of the judges on Monday.

He said he had not yet received a promise that judges would be included in the functions of the society.

“The result is that – the result of nothing … is that we are not treated as (in this respect) playing an important role in the state,” said the acting head of the Lithuanian Supreme Court.

The end of the priority list would not be visible

Aistė Šuksta, Advisor to the Minister of Health, who commented on the letter received, emphasized that if only enough vaccines were available, it would not be a problem to vaccinate as large groups of people as possible. However, if the vaccination priority list is currently expanded to include even more groups, mass vaccination may not be possible.

Both the Government and the Ministry receive many proposals, requests and wishes to include more and more groups in the list of vaccination priorities. And if we had enough vaccines, we would all get vaccinated very quickly.

Yes, there are many people at risk who have a higher incidence of an extremely complex form of the disease than the average person. All such inquiries and suggestions are considered by both the Independent Council of Experts and the Government and decisions are made. The position of the Minister is very simple: the more vaccines we have, the faster we will be vaccinated, only to bring them faster ”, said the Minister’s Advisor to the portal tv3.lt.

Currently, older people are being vaccinated in Lithuania, and furthermore, the priority group includes all people who work or provide services in educational institutions, trainers and graduates, who go to Lithuanian diplomatic missions, etc.

The last priority group, before going to vaccinate the rest of the population, are individuals who perform vital functions of the state and come into contact with others. This category includes internal service officials: police officers, firefighters, border guards, prison and public security officials, customs officials, and Security Management Service officials. Likewise, the personnel of the National Public Health Center who ensure the control of compliance with the measures of the quarantine regime, the soldiers and recruits and the personnel who attend them.
