The number of COVID-19 infections is increasing in Klaipėda kindergartens. In Klevelis, three groups of preschoolers were closed, and last week 16 cases of coronavirus were registered in this institution. In the “Traukinukas” kindergarten, a kitchen worker fell ill, so the activities of the institution were suspended for a week.

The parents were anxious

According to the newspaper, in the first months of this year, the “Klevelis” nursery prevented the infection of the coronavirus.

News of the anxiety spread on March 18, when the first employee fell ill.

Another day I felt bad again.

According to Birutė Šakalinienė, director of Klevelis, that employee complained of her discomfort last Friday, informed the managers by phone and no longer came to work.

A woman was diagnosed with coronavirus last Tuesday.

However, it was alleged that the parents of the group of children in which the sick worker worked did not receive this message until two days later. This greatly outraged the loved ones of the children.

“After all, employees have to be evaluated every week. There are 20 children in the group. Can you imagine what the fireplace is like now? Why are the directors of the institution silent? There are other groups in the institution, other children in Kindergarten can get infected. It’s disturbing, “the grandmother of one of the students said resentfully.

Mandatory tests

According to Raimundas Grigaliūnas, head of the Klaipėda department of the National Center for Public Health, there are currently 16 people in Klevelis: five employees and 11 children.

The director of the institution assured that it was not the employees who infected the children.

It is said that only two children had symptoms of coronavirus, others had an asymptomatic form and therefore could also be infected in their families.

“No employee came to work while sick. Most are children from the Spindulėliai group. Some employees have already been vaccinated, some even a second time. At my initiative, all employees who have not been vaccinated and have COVID-19 had to get tested a few days ago. “Employees have to get tested every 7-10 days anyway, but testing, like vaccination, is not mandatory. However, since there is an outbreak in our institution, it needs to be done now, “said B. Šakalinienė.

Three groups were closed

There are 11 groups of children in the Klevelis kindergarten, three of which are still closed.

On Tuesday 23 March, the director of administration of the municipality of Klaipėda, Gintaras Neniškis, signed an order to suspend the activities of the preschool education groups “Varliukai” and “Voveriukai” of the kindergarten “Klevelis” until 1 April. because “people who have been in contact with a person with COVID-19 must isolate themselves.”

And from March 19. until March 26. for the same reason, the activities of the preschool group “Spindulėliai” of the same kindergarten were suspended.

“We did very well, no one was ill until mid-March. And I cannot say that now the staff have taken care of our children,” said B. Šakalinienė.

An infected kitchen worker

R. Grigaliūnas emphasized that currently most of the fireplaces are in preschool institutions.

In addition to the staff and children of Klevelis, where the situation is most threatening, COVID-19 is also repaired in the Montessori kindergarten-school, where three staff members and one child are ill.

The kitchen worker from the kindergarten “Traukinukas” also fell ill, two of her colleagues have to isolate themselves as a result. This kindergarten had to be closed for a week because there are no facilities to cook food for the children.

“We are going to close the kindergarten from March 29 to April 2. What it will do is to close temporarily than have more problems later. We just want to take out insurance,” confirmed Jolanta Kanišauskienė, director of the kindergarten. “Traukinukas” .

The outbreaks in the “Vėrinėlis”, “Žiogelis”, “Želmenėlis” and “Žiburėlis” kindergartens and in the visual education center have not yet ended.

“One case still occurs there, and most of the patients were in educational institutions at the end of February and in the first half of March,” said R. Grigaliūnas.
