As the SNB informed the SNB on Monday, the government’s decision last week to extend the quarantine no longer contained an exception that would allow members of two families to travel from one municipality to another if one of them has only one person.
According to the ministry, meetings between these two families or households are only allowed in circular municipalities.
The renewed restrictions on movement between municipalities should be in effect until April 6 inclusive. This decision was made by the Government to stop the spread of COVID-19.
According to Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, this change sends a message to residents that everyone will be home for Easter.
As DELFI has already written, as of Saturday, restrictions on movement between municipalities came into force again in Lithuania. Delfi responded on Friday that one of the exceptions when it is possible to travel to another municipality is the formation of a bubble of social support. However, this quarantine rule has unexpectedly changed: social bubbles can only be formed by people in the same municipality or in a circular municipality.
From 2021 March 27 00:00 to 2021 April 6 24:00 restrict the movement of people between municipalities.
Except when going:
- to or from airports, seaports, bus stations serving international passenger routes;
- to the municipality of your place of residence;
- due to the death of close family members;
- perform work when the place of employment is in another municipality;
- about health services;
- for other objectively justified reasons of urgency, when it is unavoidable to go to a municipality other than the one of residence;
- The “social bubble” can only be applied within the same municipality or circular municipality.
This restriction does not apply to people who are members of the same family or a household, who move to a municipality other than their municipality of residence, where they own real estate owned by one of the members of the family or household.
It is possible to move between the municipalities of the ring: the city and the bordering district of Alytus, the city and the district of Kaunas, the city and the district of Klaipėda, the city and the district of Panevėžys, the city and the district of Šiauliai, the city and municipalities of the Vilnius district.
On Friday, March 26, information was updated on the fact that “the bubble can only be applied within the same municipality or circular municipality.”
Until then, it has been argued that “members of the support bubble can move from one municipality to another if they are in different municipalities.”
The support bubble can be made up of two households or families, if one of them has:
- no more than one adult;
- a person and their minor children;
- a disabled minor or permanent adult in need of care due to a disability.
Both households that form the bubble of support commit to having no more close contacts outside the bubble.
If a bubble of support forms with a person at risk, it is recommended that:
- wear protective masks;
- keep a distance of 2 meters;
- ventilate the premises at least once an hour.
The information was also verified by the police. The most important information about movement restrictions is that it is possible to go to another municipality when you are going to take care of people who are sick or cannot take care of themselves.
This is claimed to be allowed, but given the wide variety of such cases, officials will assess them individually.
Visitors are advised to have supporting documents (for example, on the health status of the person being cared for) whenever possible.
