Don’t you need an exorcist?

The developers of the new room rental system change the rules of the game.

Although many children from various sports: basketball, soccer, karate and others, and Olympic champion Virgilijus Alekna came to the European Plaza to express their support for the campaign organized by private sports groups, the problem was solved on the eve of the event. .

“It was agreed yesterday (Monday) that everything will be done with the same rights,” said Donalda Meiželytė, a member of the Vilnius Council.

Vilnius municipality leaders did not appear at the event, but the author of the new project Adomas Bužinskas 15 minutes confirmed by phone that he had heard the other party’s arguments.

“We have already increased the number of hours for private institutions, but there was a discussion about priorities: whether to leave the priority of budgetary institutions over private ones. After long discussions, we decided that, keeping the same proportion of hours, we would settle for priority through a level playing field.

In principle, this problem should be closed. Otherwise, an exorcist will be needed, said A. Bužinskas. We hear arguments from private schools. We haven’t seen them in danger, but if they saw the risk of getting kicked out of the gyms, then we can make sure no one throws them out. We hope this will be confirmed by the Vilnius Council on Wednesday. “

Not all the children and their parents who participated in the campaign on Tuesday were immersed in the essence of the event, but some responded with joy.

“If that’s the case, congratulations, you’ve heard us,” said Albert, the father of a private student at Capital Basketball School (SKM). – Many negotiations and arguments were needed. Parents had to work hard to persuade. I’m glad we were successful. “

Develop a more transparent system.

SKM, the largest basketball school in the capital, participated in the actions when the Vilnius municipality began to change the procedure for renting rooms. 15 minutes I already wrote last Thursday.

In accordance with the implementation of the Active Vilnius system promised from October, all those who want to see all the rooms and seats available from the institutions of the capital in real time on the Internet will be able to rent them and rent them paying through electronic banking.

Through this system, long-term contracts with sports clubs will also be concluded with the institutions, which will be selected according to a formula established by the municipality, based on geographic, massive and social criteria.

According to the adjusted project, 28.5 hours for educational institutions, 16.5 for private and 12.5 for – budget.

A.Bužinskas, Deputy Director of the Vilnius City Administration, who presented this project to the municipal committees, is convinced that the new procedure will be more transparent and will allow to get rid of the old habits of obtaining a more favorable moment through personal contacts with school principals or housewives.

Anxiety remains

The essence of the conflict was that initially it was planned to give a specific schedule for classes to the first budgetary institutions, including the second largest basketball school in Vilnius, with 1.4 thousand. children.

The coaches who train them would have chosen more convenient times and rooms than their SKM colleagues.

“We hope this does not happen, because otherwise we will be attracted to the country, even though a lot of work has already been done on it.” Parents are determined to pay more money because they trust us, ”said SKM coach Donatas Sabaliauskas.

Another former LKL basketball player, Gintautas Vileita, who also works for SKM, stated that there was always a desire to compete on an equal footing.

“We wanted to compete (with VKM), not show the winner in advance,” said Vileita.

SKM managers Andrius Čerškus and Rūtenis Paulauskas heard favorable news from the municipality but were in no rush to be happy.

“The new system will still bring chaos,” A. Čerškus was concerned about Wednesday’s vote and the fact that the new rental system will start in October and the season will start in September.

“It just caught our eye then. God forbid, because it is useful not only for private schools, but also for sports in general, – said Rūtenis Paulauskas. – Without competition, someone will live as he wants. Basketball will not grow without competition.

But Vilnius still has a lot to invest in sports infrastructure. After all, the conditions remain the same: VKM and Tauras Sports School have rooms, and SKM and other private institutions must seek them out. And no other city has such a bad situation with sports facilities. “

The Vilnius City Council will finally approve the corridors issue on Wednesday afternoon.
