But when she moved into the house, it occurred to her that she would like to buy a dog: “I read a lot, I was interested and I thought I would make friends with my dog, and I also really wanted to get rid of him. of my fear. The search has begun, we have been considering which breed would be suitable for a long time, we did not choose the puppy according to its appearance ”, says the interlocutor.

Since the acquaintances had a kennel of Eastern European shepherds, Rugilė and her husband decided to find out if these dogs would be suitable for their family. And although at first glance she thought that these dogs were not for her, later she changed her mind after observing the peculiarities of the breed. Today, these dogs are his best friends.

Five shepherds run into the family home.

“After the first puppy, we thought about the second, and then everything turned out very quickly. We participated in various exhibitions, we became more and more interested in this activity and began to live very actively.

Outside, the shepherd roars and is active, and when he returns, he immediately changes and becomes a ram.

We brought the second dog from Ukraine and today there are five in our house. We are interested in breeding, but the road is very long and you will definitely not earn money from it, it is an activity closer to the heart.

After buying the first dog, it is not really wise to start breeding, you need to not only be interested, but also dig deep to find the best dogs for breeding, ”says Rugilė.

She says that Eastern European Shepherds are really amazing dogs because they adapt to both peace and activity. “They need both active and mental activity, but this dog adapts perfectly to its owners.

If one day you cannot cope, for example, you get sick, the dog will be close to you and will not ask you for anything. So outside, the shepherd rumbles and is active, and when he returns, he immediately changes and becomes a ram. They are not inclined to be friends with other dogs, there will be no way to run them with other dogs and they will run across the field.

Training is necessary: as much as you dedicate, you will have, but there are also hosts whose experience is nothing less than that of a serious coach. Our dogs are not aggressive or angry with people, so we can participate in shows, spend a vacation together, they are completely neutral with other people ”, says Rugilė, when asked about the character of this breed of dog.

Suitable for families and for those who like active activities.

The woman emphasizes that it is not necessary to think that the owners will not have to do anything, put effort into raising the dog, because it is an obedient breed.

“Yes, they are great, intelligent and obedient dogs, but you have to work hard. They are definitely suitable as a first pet, but on the other hand, when choosing a first dog, I always recommend choosing a specific breeder rather than a specific breed. He will tell you about the breed, present the pros and cons, the characteristics of breeding, how to behave, raise a dog. After discovering the connection with the breeder, you will also discover the pet of your dreams ”, advises Rugilė.

She says the shepherd is perfect for the family: “While he is said to be a one-owner dog who loves and listens the most, the shepherd really loves the whole family.

We found that pastors really adapt well and know how to treat children. However, you need to raise not only the dog but also the child. First of all, a family with children must understand that a dog is not a toy and, of course, I do not recommend leaving children alone with any dog, especially until the children are very young, ”says Rugilė.

She emphasizes that Eastern European shepherds need more than just physical activity, they also need mental activity. “Going out with the dogs and walking for three to four hours is not for them download. Walking is definitely cool, but the dog needs to get to work. It is better to walk for an hour, but give activities such as repetitive commands, looking for treats, playing with a ball, interactive toys, etc.

When choosing a first dog, I always recommend choosing a specific breeder rather than a specific breed.

This is very important to pastors. You can participate in mental activities not only outdoors but also at home, especially if there are days when you can no longer walk with your pet outdoors. After mental activity, dogs can be even more tired and rest more than after bathing, ”says Rugilė.

He adds that physical activity is necessary in any case and offers to combine it with the season, for example, in a warm year outdoors, the dog is perfect not only for walking, but also for swimming.

“My husband and I are completely natural and forest people, so we really like spending time outside. And the dogs are always with us, we go on vacation, we love bodies of water, so there is nothing better than the opportunity to wake up on the fifth day, swim to fish, and all this is crowned by a company of dogs ” says interviewer.

Care, nutrition and love

Eastern European shepherds are fed by the family through the app. crude nutritional principles. A dog eats about 1 kilogram of meat a day, so the number of kilograms of meat it consumes per month can reach 150. However, according to the host, these dogs are not picky at all, but it is best to choose super premium class food.

“The care is not complicated, but there really is a lot of hair from these shepherds at home. The advice is simple: comb your pets more often and there will definitely be less hair, ”says the hostess. He adds that it is a fairly healthy breed, but those who want a healthy puppy must take care of both the health of their parents and the state of their joints, this is the weak point of these pets.

A family of five Eastern European Shepherds says that pets are obedient because the most important job is to teach the dog training and rules at home and outdoors until the first year.

“They consider me a leader, one worth listening to, so there are no problems,” says Rugilė, when asked if it is difficult to care for a large number of pets that require attention and care.

Dogs of this breed would be best suited for a person who is quite active, likes to spend time outside the home, has leadership qualities, as the dogs themselves are very intelligent, thinking, so you will always find the opportunity to get on the owner’s head. . And while it is a working breed that guides your mind perfectly, you must remember that you must remember who is the owner, the handler, and he must be strong with the dog to trust him.

“I love my dogs for the fact that they are just there and I don’t ask for anything in return. It is good for me to be with them, to spend time, because the dog is, above all, a friend, a member of the family, with whom the time spent is invaluable ”, says R.Masiulevičienė.
