And that’s not all. According to the order of the Minister of Health, the municipality has to organize work remotely, and the Var municipiona district municipality closed the door only today after announcing the coronavirus outbreak.

At least 17 cases of coronavirus reached the Varėna district municipality. The municipal gate was closed Wednesday due to the new COVID-19 chimney. The district mayor, A. Kašėta, also fell ill, as did several other municipal employees.

The chimney in the municipality is said to have been produced after the birthday of one of the employees was commemorated. It is said that she was greeted with flowers and champagne.

According to LNK, the coronavirus outbreak in the municipality could have taken place after Laima Denutien’s birthdayė, the head of the Department of Culture and Sports mentions here. His Facebook account shows that his birthday was a couple of weeks ago. Even earlier, the municipality also celebrated Women’s Day.

“There was someone who came through the door safe and sound wearing masks, handed out flowers, said a greeting and left. This is a great celebration. If it’s a celebration, ”L. Denutienė herself told LNK news.

The woman assured that there was no celebration in the municipality, only individual colleagues came to greet her.

“Those echoes are spreading, it is said among the people that on March 8, both the Director of Administration and the Chief of Operations distributed flowers to the municipal employees. March 10 was the anniversary of the head of a department, ”said Povilas Saulevičius, a member of the Varėna District Municipal Council.

L. Denutienė says the tests from her and other employees in this department are negative. Therefore, according to the presenter, the outbreak is not related to her birthday.

However, Councilor P. Saulevičius thinks otherwise. It also bothers him that the municipality closed its doors just today.

“If we look back now, it’s been two weeks since March 8. Like the same moment when people start getting sick. The boom started a week after that: municipal employees started getting sick. But that information doesn’t come through. people like that. People complained that they did not know that there was a fireplace in the municipality. And to this day, the municipality has worked. So that people could participate, “P. Saulevičius told news reporters from LNK.

According to the order of the Chief of Operations of the State for Emergencies, the work of the municipality must be organized remotely. Unless the work must be done at the workplace.

Saulevičius says he tried to contact Alvydas Verbickas, director of the municipal administration. Who is also the head of emergency operations in the Varėna district. However, no answer was received as to why the municipality closed the door only in the event of an outbreak.

A. Verbickas allegedly does not answer the phone or answer the messages. P. Saulevičius showed messages to the outraged population in LNK.

“The director of the municipality enters the building without a mask. Everyone knows it and wonders how the head of the operations center behaves. While on Facebook, write about fighting the disease. They themselves have coffee in the office with other managers, just like other managers. It has been full of self-isolation of the people since yesterday “, – politicians read the messages of the population.

LNK was also unable to contact A. Verbickas.

But A. Kašėta, the mayor of the Varėna district, who agreed with the coronavirus, agreed to communicate.

The mayor explains that part of the employees worked remotely, some at the workplace. And the birthday party itself asks to ask about the birthday party.

“I worked remotely that day. I called, as usual, the department heads, babbled with a birthday. But about her birthday celebration, if there was one, you’d better ask the hostess. But I did not receive such knowledge that there would be coffee in the municipality on that occasion ”, explained the mayor of the district.

A. Kašėta assures that he found out about the disease through preventive tests and had no contact with the sick. Says it feels good, just a little throat.

Residents of Varėna say that if the virus really spreads in the municipality due to public holidays, the city authorities should be ashamed, as they should set an example for the residents.

The National Public Health Center (NVSC) is investigating the outbreak in the Varėna district municipality. But the interviewed staff did not mention the epidemiologists about the birthday celebration.

The police have not yet been notified of a possible concentration in the municipality.

The Varėna district falls into the black zone.
