The proposal, to be presented to parliament on Monday, says the decision to lift the state of emergency imposed on March 24 would be “too soon” and the “risk of an outbreak” could increase.

The law also establishes a quarantine clause for people who come to France from abroad.

“We will have to live with the virus for a while,” Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said after the cabinet meeting.

“We will learn to live with the virus. That is what will come in the coming months,” he added.

The proposal also proposes the creation of an “information system” to monitor infected people and their contacts.

Government spokeswoman Sibeth Ndiaye said the bill will be presented to the Senate on Monday and probably to the National Assembly the following day.

France is one of the countries in Europe most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Here 24,594 deaths and 167,346 infections were registered.

The government has also announced the phasing out of some restrictive measures beginning May 11, including the resumption of primary school operations.

The bill also covers quarantine mitigation aspects, Veran said.
