It is unclear to epidemiologists why the coronavirus is spreading on S. Stanevičiaus Street in Vilnius.

“The cases are still unclear. The circumstances of the infection are unclear and additional interviews are needed,” said the public health specialist.

According to her, the coronavirus was identified in a relative of an employee of a long-distance transport company, and four low-risk individuals were identified.

The remaining two cases were identified in one family. According to G. Megelinskienė, both infected belong to risk groups, one due to age, the other due to comorbidities.

“Both people were invited on the third day of June, four people who had contact were identified,” said G. Megelinskienė.

He also added that epidemiologists are preparing to pay special attention to S. Stanevičiaus Street, where a coronavirus was confirmed for five people living in different apartment buildings since Friday.

“As of Friday, five confirmed cases live on S. Stanevičiaus Street. In different apartment buildings, but on the same street,” said a representative from the National Center for Public Health.

“An additional survey of these five cases will be carried out. It will be evaluated in great detail where people visited, who they knew,” he added.

In Lithuania, so far the coronavirus has been confirmed in 1776 people, 76 people have died and 10 other people infected with the coronavirus have died from other causes.
