On Monday, participate in the second Kalinauskas international forum to mobilize a democratic community for free and democratic elections in Belarus.
“Any support, any attention is important for Belarusians, so that people know that they are not alone, that the whole world is fighting for democracy in our country,” Cichanouskaya said.
He stressed the need for the help of the international community to start negotiations with the regime of President Lukashenko.
Welcoming the forum, Seimas spokesperson Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen stated that Lithuania and the entire democratic world must do everything possible to ensure that the Belarusian society and people are free.
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė hoped that the day would soon come when such an event could be organized in the democratically elected Belarusian parliament.
“For eight months, Belarusians have been beaten, imprisoned and expelled from the university just for expressing their opinion, flying their flag, wanting to be the masters of their country,” he said.
“Journalists are imprisoned for preaching the truth, not for propaganda.” Civil society is being systematically destroyed, and its leaders are being forced to leave the country, where only the dictator Lukashenko and the humble, obedient, non-jumpers have a place. ” said the head of the Lithuanian government.

The first international Kalinauskas forum was held in Vilnius last August after the presidential elections in Belarus. Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994, was declared the official winner, but the opposition and the West say the election results were rigged.
