Every year on March 21, social networks are filled with photos of people wearing different socks and thus expressing their support for people with Down syndrome and their loved ones.
Why socks?
The socks were not chosen by chance, because their shape resembles the shape of chromosomes, the alterity of which determines Down syndrome.
3 reasons why it’s worth wearing different socks on March 21:
1. Your support is very important to people with Down syndrome and their families. It gives joy and the belief that a large part of society still does not cancel them, but supports them. Seeing such increased attention every year, there is growing hope that your children will live a full life, not be rejected, discharged.
2. Your example infects and educates others. Although the majority of society is benevolent, they do not know how they can contribute to the well-being and integration of people with Down syndrome in society. Therefore, the commemoration of these days provides an opportunity for the public to learn more, to get acquainted with what Down Syndrome really is, which is often still shrouded in various myths.
3. In the morning you don’t have to look for two identical socks …
March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day.
