At the press conference, the Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga and the Chief of the Infectious Disease Management Division of the Vilnius Department of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) presented the news about the fight against COVID-19.

Watch the conference here:

A.Veryga reported that the total morbidity rate that meets the criteria established for quarantine may be revoked.

“It just came to our attention then. At first, I can remind you that on May 22, when it was decided to monitor those values, they were 5.9,” said the minister.

Meanwhile, the rate is 90 percent. new cases have to be related to existing hot spots, they were not achieved: it was almost 83% last week.

“This indicator has deteriorated,” Veryga admitted.

Of the 100 cases studied, the number of positive cases remains within the normal range.

There were also more import cases last week than expected 5 a week, this time eight.

The situation is more or less stable. Definitely without any significant deterioration.

Although the expected criteria have not been met, the quarantine will end on Wednesday.

“It just came to our attention then. Definitely without any significant deterioration,” said the minister.

According to A.Veryga, in a sense, the two unreachable criteria are related to each other.

“Those indicators are not too bad, but when we recorded we were at a very good point. Now we see this more as a fluctuation. Of course, it would be ideal not to have a single case, but it is as it is, “he said.

Failure to comply with the isolation recommendations will result in a penalty.

After quarantine is lifted, people returning from affected countries should register and be considered at high risk for infection. They will be subject to isolation.

“This is a recommendation for the use of solitary confinement, but if it turns out that they have not complied with the isolation and other people have been infected because of them, they could be subject to administrative or even criminal liability,” said the minister.

If the quarantine is lifted, cafes, restaurants and bars will be able to operate not only outdoors, but also indoors. It is true that the Minister hinted that new instructions are being prepared for such institutions on how to comply with security. In addition, additional inspections will be conducted.

“If a lot of problems are solved, then the government can go back and consider the restrictions on working time,” the minister said.

Wearing masks is also recommended. There will be no penalty for not using them.

Warns hospitals

According to the minister, plans to resume operations have already been presented by 75%. outpatient institutions, 85%. hospitals and 84 percent. institutions that provide dental services.

“As we see that some agencies have not submitted plans, there are apparently two versions of what is the case. One is that they provide uncoordinated services and send plans to the NVSC. In this case, they violate the decisions of the operations manager, “said A. Veryga.

Otherwise, if the institutions do not really provide services, they will not receive funds, the Minister warned several times.

With the abolition of quarantine, according to the minister, it will gradually be possible to visit patients. It is true that highly vulnerable people are even better off not attending, and nursing homes are likely to continue to limit the number of visitors as much as possible.

Veryga said that members of the Cabinet of Ministers were examined for coronavirus for the third time last week.

By the way, on Monday the A.Veryga press conference was already held not remotely, but live.
