88 new cases of the British strain of the virus were identified: the majority in Vilnius

This week a total of 426 samples were analyzed. In the laboratory of the Vilnius University Hospital (VUL) Clinicas Santara – 376 samples, of which 78 cases of the aforementioned line were detected.

26 studies were carried out in the laboratory of the Kaunas Clinics of the Lithuanian Health Sciences University (LSMU), of which – 8 cases with the B.1.1.7 line.
The laboratory of the Natural Sciences Center (GMC) of Vilnius University (VU) conducted 24 tests and found 2 cases.

Of all the identified cases, 68 cases belong to Vilnius county, 5 – Kaunas county, 4 – Klaipėda and Marijampolė counties, 2 – Tauragė county, 1 case to Palanga, Šilutė and Utena counties, and one person indicated their place of residence in Spain.

A total of 1431 sample sequences were performed in Lithuania, according to the sequencing project coordinated by NVSPL, and 168 cases of the B.1.1.7 virus line were detected.
