They were not delivered until Thursday afternoon. As you have reported to BNS Statistics Lithuania, it is currently being explained why this has happened.

The data began to appear after the BNS request.

The data shows that the vaccination with AstraZeneca was carried out on Wednesday in the districts of Klaipėda, Akmenė, Varėna and other municipalities. For example, 34 people were vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca in Klaipeda on Wednesday and 24 people in Akmenė district.

One of those injections was done in Kaunas. Paulius Kibiša, director of the Kaunas City Polyclinic, told BNS that the registered case probably means that the form due to the vaccine entered the e-health system the next day.

“It was probably signed here and incorporated into eHealth that way, because that’s where the Statistics Department takes it. It could have been confirmed at night by someone from the doctors or when you got to work the next day, the form 63 that enters the records and will enter that day, ”said P. Kibiša.

“I can assure you that we have not really vaccinated anyone,” he added.

According to the Statistics Department, a total of 2,452 people and 6,226 people were vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys announced the temporary suspension of vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine until the European Medicines Agency presents final conclusions on the connection of thromboembolic cases with the vaccine. The minister expected the EEA’s conclusion to be clear on Thursday.

He stated that the decision was made on the basis of the relevant recommendation of the State Medicines Control Agency.

On the same day, the European Medicines Agency said there was “no indication” that a vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford could cause blood clots in some people who had been vaccinated.
