Several hundred people gathered in South London on Saturday to mourn the murder of 33-year-old S. Everard. Her murder sparked a public debate on violence against women.

Wayne Couzens, a 48-year-old London police officer and member of the diplomatic security unit, is a suspect in the murder earlier this week.

The video, distributed on social media, shows how officials brutally lure women standing on the platform.

Official standby organized by Reclaim These Streets (left. “Let’s Take These Streets”), there were cancellations after police warned of a violation of coronavirus restrictions.

The movement said it was “saddened and outraged” by the police action, and criticized officials who used force against the assembled women to condemn the men’s violence.

“It is their responsibility to protect public order, public health and the right to protest. They did not do all of this tonight,” Reclaim These Streets said in a statement.

The London Metropolitan Police assured that “the only responsibility” was to ensure public safety. However, the police action will be reviewed to see if “lessons can be learned from this.”

Home Secretary Priti Patel described the material on social media as “sad” and assured her by contacting the London Metropolitan Police to explain what happened.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said those images were “unacceptable”.

“The police have a responsibility to enforce restrictions on COVID-19, but from the images I have seen it is clear that the response was neither appropriate nor proportionate,” he said.
