Most people will need to register to receive the vaccine.

About 9% of patients should be vaccinated with at least one dose in the two and a half months after vaccination. population. What will the process be like when priority groups are vaccinated and the majority of the population, almost 1.79 million, is eligible for the vaccine? people under 65?

The start of mass vaccination is expected in late spring, but representatives of the Ministry of Health (SAM) have not yet said the exact date or how long the vaccinated will take. “The information available on vaccine deliveries is quite limited and it is not clear how actively priority groups will be vaccinated,” explains LUK Galkus, SAM representative.

As the chief specialist of the SAM Department of Information Resources and Electronic Health System emphasizes, the vaccination procedure will be different: people will have to register for the vaccination themselves.

Who is the second in line?

– What is the sequence of vaccinations for people under 65 years of age? Will its classification be decided by the SAM or will it be at the discretion of polyclinics and other vaccination centers?

– When the vaccines for people over 65 are finished, we will move on to those who are younger and have chronic diseases. Mass vaccination will start later. So far, the ministry has not decided to further divide the population by age during mass vaccination; anyone who wants to get vaccinated can register and get vaccinated.

– Will people with all chronic diseases take priority?

– A list of disease codes that increase the risk of COVID-19 and the risk of developing chronic diseases will be adopted. This list is currently being coordinated with physician and researcher organizations. Once approved, it will be clear who the vaccine will belong to in the past and who will have to wait.

You will have to register yourself

– How will the remaining population, not in priority groups by age, type of work or disease, be able to register for vaccination? Will there be a common system?

– When we start the mass vaccination, there will be a general registry for all residents, regardless of age, 45 or 21. Everyone on the esveikata.lt portal will be able to register for the vaccine in their free time, and if there is no such thing, please queue and wait. Those who do not use a computer or do not know how to register online can do so by phone by calling the vaccination center.

– This group includes almost 1.8 million. If the system crashes after enrolling in a kindergarten, what will happen when you try to enroll so many people? Will there be no chaos?

– The earlier you register, the faster you will receive the vaccine. Others may have to wait because the vaccine supply does not meet everyone’s needs.

– When can people between the ages of 16 and 65 start to register?

– It is difficult to tell the exact time so far, because it is not clear when we will finish vaccinating the priority groups. Mass vaccination is scheduled to begin in late spring, around May, but it all depends on how much vaccine we receive and how actively priority groups are vaccinated, that is, people 65 years of age and later. those with chronic diseases. If these groups are active, there will be many people who want to be vaccinated, and the start of mass vaccination will be later. But if these groups are vaccinated inactively, no one will store the vaccines and there will be a more rapid transition to mass vaccination, when everyone who wants to can receive the vaccines.

When it is seen that the activity of the priority groups is decreasing and, as a result, vaccines remain, it will be more timely to announce the start of mass vaccination.

– Is there any knowledge about vaccinations for children and pregnant women?

– The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been registered for people from the age of sixteen, so you will be vaccinated from that age.

Vaccine trials have already begun in children. There is no knowledge for pregnant women. As a very small population, they are often excluded from drug research.

– Who will start the mass vaccination registry?

– The SAM will decide when to switch to mass vaccination. The ministry monitors vaccination activity, how many vaccines are currently used, how many people of different ages have been vaccinated. When it is seen that the activity of the priority groups is decreasing and, as a result, vaccines remain, it will be more timely to announce the start of mass vaccination. The public will be informed through all possible channels how to register, and those who cannot do so online will be provided phone numbers to call. We will work with GPs to advise their patients where they can register.

Manufacturer’s selection is not available

– President Dalia Grybauskaitė, who has served her 65-year term, has already been vaccinated, although many older people have not yet been vaccinated. Can polyclinics decide to vaccinate the younger ones if they don’t call the older ones?

– Polyclinics, other medical institutions now vaccinate people over 65 years of age. Priority is given to people aged 80 and over, people aged 75 and over, etc. But the situation is such that with the introduction of the priority group, its activity gradually decreases. After vaccinating those who most wanted it, others still have to be persuaded, it takes time. To make the use of vaccines more efficient (and more are delivered to vaccination centers every week), institutions can invite other people from the priority group over 65 to see vaccines if they see that there are vaccines left. But you have to give priority to the bosses.

The ministry is looking for a solution on how to legally register that a person refuses to be vaccinated with any vaccine because no one is offering a specific vaccine; the possibility of vaccination is offered.

– What measures can the SAM take in municipalities that lag behind in vaccination rates? Perhaps the unused vaccines will be transferred to other municipalities or the allocated quantity will be reduced?

– The Ministry is in permanent contact with the municipalities and in writing, and the situation is discussed live every week. When the pace is slower, we try to discover the causes and solve them together.

Certainly, there is no intention to withdraw the vaccines prescribed and delivered to the institutions. But if the SAM sees that the body has a large stock of refrigerators, it will not be given an additional vaccine or less that week.

– What is the SAM decision for people who want to get vaccinated but not the AstraZeneca vaccine?

– Vaccines are offered to the population and all vaccines that are registered in the EU are safe and effective for all ages. Priority groups only have the opportunity to get vaccinated earlier, but not to choose the manufacturer’s vaccine. Therefore, we strongly encourage all residents to take this opportunity to get vaccinated at that time.

The ministry is looking for a solution on how to legally register that a person refuses to be vaccinated with any vaccine because no one is offering a specific vaccine; the possibility of vaccination is offered. In order not to slow down the vaccination process in such cases, these people would be invited to be vaccinated during mass vaccination. But in no way will they be able to choose a vaccine. If the vaccinator is still not satisfied with the vaccine, he or she may refuse to be vaccinated at all.

The fourth vaccine

– Will there be more vaccinated at the beginning of the mass vaccination?

– Everything will depend on the supply of the vaccine. While their numbers are smaller, it can be difficult to logistically divide them into many small centers. The model of having at least one vaccination agency in each municipality, which decides how many GP surgeries to use to ensure efficient and fluid vaccination, will be maintained. Many GP surgeries are already vaccinating their patients, and this model will continue in the future.

Of course, as volumes increase, it will also be necessary to increase the number of vaccination sites, and this will certainly be done.

– Will the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is sufficient for one vaccine and has easier logistics, be distributed equally to all municipalities or regions where the population is more dispersed and more difficult to invite?

– It is not yet possible to say how this vaccine will be distributed, as the manufacturer has not yet provided information on how much it plans to deliver in the coming months. If we get a small amount, as was the case with the Modernos vaccine, we will not distribute it throughout Lithuania, because logistically it would be a job that requires too many resources. Then it would be directed to specific locations.

– What are the current projections with vaccine manufacturers, given that Johnson & Johnson will contribute: How long is it realistic for 16-65 year olds to get vaccinated?

– A total of 1.79 million in this group. population, about 145 thousand. of them are already sick. The information available so far on vaccine deliveries is quite limited, so I cannot answer the question of when they will be able to get vaccinated.
