The kindergarten student in Suwalki had to experience a lot of horror: a girl who was crying loudly and wearing only her underwear was dragged across the floor by the educator and then lifted by her hair.
The screaming girl spreads to another room. There someone knows them. The drama takes place over lunch, with other children in the group lying on adjacent cots. The video is shared by the terrified parents of Kazlų Rūda Primary School, which also has several kindergarten groups.
After seeing these images, the parents of the same group of babies and children who already attend elementary school at this institution say they have experienced a shock.
The violence was registered in a group of children aged 3 to 5 years. Parents suspect that this is not the first case, the children say that they have been locked in the bathroom for a long time, and when asked for help, they became ardent and rude. The parents also set out these facts in a letter addressed to the Kazlų Rūda municipality.
“There are indications that there was a tough talk with the children, the teacher of the laces did not help to tie. So far, I can’t say neither that nor that, ”says Beta Zaveckienė, Head of the Department of Education.
Children’s rights experts say that cases of violence in preschool institutions are extremely rare. For this reason, they have already contacted their families in Kazlų Rūda, clarified the situation and provided them with help.
“One of the main goals is to offer help to both parents and children, if necessary, and I would like to say that these situations are not common in the Marijampolė region, we had two such cases,” says Ramunė Liubinaitė, a representative of the Service for the Protection of Children’s Rights.
The abusive educator no longer works at the institution. She announced her resignation this week. The school principal says there is tension in the community, but does not see the need to explain more details about the event itself or about the educator fired to the public.
“The situation is very unpleasant, the whole community is shocked,” says the head of the school Lina Laužaitienė.
The school directors are also awaiting an official inspection, which will be carried out by municipal specialists.
“We want to know if the school director has done everything possible as director of the institution to ensure a safe environment for children,” says B. Zaveckienė.
However, the mayor of Kazlų Rūda Mantas Varaška, without waiting for the investigation on the social network, asked the director to resign. The director calls it blackmail for doing everything right. And so far no one has sent him a history of violence. Parents say the director was already aware of possible illnesses in the group.
“About how I interacted with my parents, I will tell the police about the event that you are asking about here,” he says.
It is not yet known when the shocking situation was filmed and who captured it. The case of violence is also perpetrated by the forces of order.
“Due to the aforementioned fact, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated in accordance with article 140 (3) of the CC of the Republic of Lithuania, that is, for causing physical pain or minor health disorder”, says Renatas Siaurusaitis, representative Marijampolė County Police Department.
Educators face fines, arrest, or even imprisonment of up to two years for such behavior.
