The Environment Ministry announced an updated selection of commercial operators on Wednesday.

Romas Jankauskas, the general commissioner of the Lithuanian Pavilion, announced that the selection was first announced a year ago, but few companies responded, and at the same time there was a coronavirus pandemic, which delayed the exhibition itself for a year.

“The Lithuanian pavilion, which has already been built there, will also have a café-bar, a small one with 25 seats, and a point for Lithuanian products, souvenirs and products. We need one operator, mostly two, to organize catering and trade, ”R. Jankauskas told the BNS news agency.

Although these exhibits are not commercial, each state can dedicate up to one-fifth of all venues to commerce.

The selected company or companies must acquire the merchandise, transport it, obtain all the necessary permits, hire employees and accommodate them on their own. According to R. Jankauskas, “it can be profitable, it can also be unprofitable.”

“Dubai already has minimal restrictions on trade and catering, and on October 1, when the exhibition starts, it will last half a year, it could be a good situation and someone may have a chance to recover from that crisis,” said the commissioner. general of the pavilion.

Service providers will be selected based on the presentation method offered by the country, so it would be helpful to represent as many Lithuanian companies as possible.

It is not planned to postpone the exhibition again.

The Ministry of the Environment, responsible for the country’s performance in Dubai, announced at the end of February that the Lithuanian pavilion had already been built and that its installation was currently being completed. The exhibition has been in the works for three years.

In the nearly 1,000-square-meter pavilion, designed by the architects of the small community “Baukas”, there will be an exhibition presenting the achievements of Lithuania in technology, environmental protection and other fields. The exhibition should be fully ready in September.

“If conditions were at least as they are now, it would certainly be a very good and productive participation. But maybe after the summer, after the active vaccination, which is being carried out very intensively in Dubai and around the world, and with us, if the situation changes for the better, then everything should go very well, “he said. R. Jankauskas.

According to him, Lithuania has chosen the optimal premises, because the country’s budget, as before, is one of the smallest. Germany, for example, is allocating 50 million euros to participation. euros.

“Probably the biggest investment is the building itself. Lithuania will have a single building in a very good location. We are between the Slovenian and Swedish pavilions. The building cost around 3 million. EUR, and all the participation and other total costs cost another million, ”said R. Jankauskas.

On October 22, a national day dedicated to Lithuania will be organized at the exhibition.

According to the ministry, although the “Expo 2020” exhibition was postponed one year last year due to the global pandemic, there are no plans to do it again. It will be carried out under the conditions that will prevail at that time.

The previously projected number of visitors, 25 million, may decline, but exhibition organizers are in no rush to change it just yet. The name of the exhibition does not change, although it will actually take place in 2021-2022, it will continue to be called Expo 2020.
