Currently, more than 100 criminal offenses are being investigated throughout Lithuania.

Twenty-nine representatives of private companies and twenty-two employees of medical institutions, nine of whom are heads of medical institutions, are currently accused of various acts of corruption.

The study is carried out by the Central Research Board of the STT together with all the territorial boards. After announcing a large-scale investigation into corruption in the public procurement sector in the health sector on March 4, law enforcement officials said allegations of various corruption offenses were made against 35 people, four of whom which are heads of private companies and six are heads of medical institutions.

Law enforcement confirmed that the suspects include Narimantas Markevičius, director of the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, Daiva Kanopienė, director of the Šeškinė polyclinic, Olegas Kačanas, chief physician of the Vilnius district Nemenčinė polyclinic, Stasys Skauminas, hospital director Kėdainiai, director of the main municipality of Plungė district director Irena Janušonienė.

More than a hundred crimes are being investigated, according to the Special Investigation Service. It is suspected that they may have involved more than a dozen medical institutions from different municipalities, their managers and other people responsible for public procurement.

According to law enforcement, criminal offenses such as abuse, bribery, influence peddling, bribery, as well as fraudulent accounting and falsification of documents are investigated.

Darius Balčiūnas, head of the STT Central Board of Investigation, said on Thursday that 270,000 people were found during about 150 searches. cash in various currencies. According to him, the officials also recorded moments of possible transfer of a bribe.

According to the prosecutor Žydrūnas Radišauskas, the public procurement of the institutions “restricted competition, discriminated against other suppliers” and the conditions to win over certain protected companies were harmonized.

Most of the suspects were taken into custody – written promises not to leave. A suspect, E. Sudeikis, was arrested. The prosecution also requested the arrest of V. Domarkas and K. Kutkauskas, but the court did not comply with these requests.
