Vilius Sukonas, the director of Klaipėda Neptūnas, leaves his post. This was revealed by Sigitas Ambrazevičius, the owner of the club, while speaking with the radio station Lalūna.

The head of the club has written a statement to resign (from work). This is a free choice of one person, – Ambrazevičius told the radio station “Lalūna”. “We are not angry, we are just tired of the psychological pressure, the deprivation that lasts for three years and it is not clear how long it will last.”
“He just decided to change jobs because it started to damage his health. At the moment, Dainius Vaitelis will temporarily assume the position and then we will look for a new manager ”, added the owner of Neptūnas.
Ambrazevičius also stated that coach Tomas Gaidamavičius has the confidence of the management.
“The situation with the coach is good, he is confident. There are objective reasons why we did not succeed and this season all the cards are in front of us. When we can defeat something, the opponent gets sick (coronavirus), then we get sick when we are in good shape.
Injuries, unfavorable schedule, unjustified expectations of some players. We have planned the entire financial season very carefully, so there will be no negative cash flows. We don’t increase our debts, we budget very carefully with reduced expenses for player salaries, car rentals and apartments, ”said Ambrazevičius.
The owner of the port city team also said that all arrears will be covered in the near future.
“It just came to our notice then. We will receive the first installment of the city under the high command team support program and we will catch up on all our commitments to the players and others,” Ambrazevičius commented.
Asked about Neptūnas’ goals this season, Ambrazevičius stated that there is no specific task.
“The goal is to take the highest possible place in the regular season and put up a good fight in the playoffs. It’s funny to someone that that team is interesting because sometimes it seems like it’s interesting to fans only when they lose (can) curse. For several years now, we have lacked a more serious approach to what we are doing.
There are many critics and few who see the good processes that are happening. The results of the main team are currently unhappy for some reason, but no one wants to rejoice and notice what processes are happening with young basketball players.
For the first time in the history of independent Lithuania, they do not go to Vilnius or Kaunas, but stay here. Women’s basketball is generally forgotten, it is not interesting for anyone, nobody watches football, but it is as it is, ”concluded Ambrazevičius.
