Three flights were made during the three days of the competition (the one scheduled for Saturday morning was canceled due to strong winds). In total, the pilots performed 11 tasks, during which M.Lyčius scored 8,585 points out of 11,000 possible. Interestingly, he didn’t score a maximum of 1,000 points on any task, in other words, he was outclassed by at least one opponent each time. And until the last flight, he did not lead in the general classification. Good stable results helped to win: only one task left the rider ninth, the others performed better.
Vytautas Sviderskis took second place with 8,372 points, Tadas Gegevičius took third place (8,226 points) and Laurynas Komža took fourth place (7,941 points). Vytautas Rudžianskas (7,804 points) finishes the first five, with four maximum results (1,000 points each) for various tasks, by the way, collected during the same flight.
A total of 19 pilots participated in the competition not only from various Lithuanian cities, but also from Latvia and the Czech Republic. Among them were highly experienced and titled, for example, the current European vice-champion, the leader of the Lithuanian classification Laurynas Komža, the former European and European vice-champion Romas Kostiuškevičius de Marijampolė, his son Rokas Kostiuškevičius, who has twice won the youth world championship , the European Championship and the World Championship. It recently climbed to a height of over 9 km and almost repeated the Lithuanian record. None of the participants has become the Lithuanian champion.

Admittedly, M.Lyčius’ success should not be surprising: the seventh athlete in the national athlete ranking comes from the Alytus family of pilots. Her father is an experienced Mindaugas Lytis hot air balloon pilot, and her older brother, Tomas, also flies.
During the quarantine, the sky pilots organized this competition in record time, a good week. According to organizer Tadas Gegevičius, the Vilnius City Outdoor Hot Air Balloon Championship was the first such event since the beginning of the quarantine. “The sports event is the first so far in all the butter. And athletes around the world envy us, “he laughed.

Many balloons at the same time, not only the participants of the competition, but also almost 15 party participants who did not compete for the champion title, have not flown over Vilnius since 2003, when the European Championship took place here.
The competition did not end successfully for all participants: a crew member of a team was injured during the first flight. The disaster was caused by a strong wind, which arose when the weather suddenly subjugated Vilnius. A balloon was also hit: its dome broke. According to the organizers, similar events in the competition, when the participants or the team are affected, are not inevitable.
