The third wave of the pandemic is feared
“It just came to our knowledge then. Now that science has achieved a lot, vaccines have been developed, so it all depends on the attitude of society itself towards them. So far, it seems that a lot of people agree on get vaccinated, so perhaps in a few months they can escape quarantine, “Algirdas, a recently retired lecturer who met in Kaunas, told the Delfi portal.
He mentioned that quarantine requirements do not have a significant impact on normal life, but there is a lack of live communication with family and friends.

“Some of my relatives and acquaintances are already sick, it would be fun to visit them, but there are movement restrictions. I myself am waiting for the vaccine and I would not much like a third wave of the pandemic to occur. The numbers are a bit disturbing, the number of new diseases does not seem very inclined to decrease ”, considered the interlocutor.
He said he did not understand why some of those currently receiving COVID-19 vaccines refuse to get vaccinated.
“If a person is afraid of possible side effects, fever or nausea, then what is better for him: a day or two to feel bad, or to be lying in the corona department resuscitation,” the Kaunas resident wondered.
New strains of the virus are concerning
The agreed middle-aged Kaunas couple did not dare to predict when the situation will fundamentally change and society will be able to return to a normal rhythm of life. They are not concerned about the skeptical attitude of some people towards vaccination, but about the new strains of the mutated virus that have already reached Lithuania.
“New vaccines may be needed to protect against altered forms of the virus. There is still little information, but what we hear and read is not very optimistic,” said the spouses.

They mentioned that they were already adjusting to life during a pandemic, making them less stressful. They both work remotely, have the necessary conditions, and distance education for adult children is not a problem either.
“It is a pity for our grandparents who are imprisoned in their homes, they are left only with telephone communication, because the use of other technologies is rare. Therefore, psychological problems and exclusion are increasing ”, said the interlocutors.
Outraged by the fears of some educators
Another interlocutor, a young Kaunas resident who raises two primary school children, did not hide his outrage at the fact that a large part of school personnel still fear vaccines and reject them.
“Trust me, this quarantine is completely overwhelmed.” Anyone with young children learning remotely from home really knows what I’m talking about. You know, I would very much like everything to end as soon as possible, and Lithuania is looking forward to that.

It infuriates me that some of the Kaunas teachers refuse to get vaccinated. What kind of school opening can we talk about, if so? How can such people teach children if they believe in nonsense and fear vaccines? It will not happen that the school year ends during them in distance education ”, reasoned the interlocutor.
According to him, there is too much talk at the moment about the right of teachers and school personnel not to be vaccinated, radical solutions would be needed. One of them, according to Kaunas residents, did not allow unvaccinated teachers to work with the children in contact form.
The solution is called “immune”
“The quarantine ruined all my plans. I was going to work abroad, it seems that things are falling apart. It does not depend on Lithuania, other countries also apply various restrictions, “said Kaunas, who is completing his engineering studies, to the Delfi portal.
After mentioning vaccination, which is gaining momentum, he said that a valid information system must be created in Lithuania, but also in other countries, the so-called “immunopoints”.
“I have no idea when I will receive the vaccine because I am not at risk or in any responsible job. And when I get vaccinated, I will be able to go to other countries freely. What will I present there, a brochure from a nurse written in Lithuanian that I vaccinated? …

It should be the case that the vaccinated person receives a certificate that is recognized by other states. It would be like an “immunopass” here, so that a person with him could travel and work more freely, “said a student from Kaunas.
Recalling that the idea of ”certificates” of acquired immunity is ambiguous, which could divide society into two categories, the interviewee maintained his position.
“Let the antivaxes live as they want and not interfere with others. Here is your right to choose and my right to live your normal life. After all, to get a job, you are required to take a medical check-up or a health brochure. There is no problem with that, I did not hear that this order would discriminate against anyone, ”said the young Kaunas resident.
