VANarbut’s mother-in-law told the court that on the night of October 17, 2019, her daughter had returned home alone in Vilijampolė of the city, although she had gone to her with her husband. And crying. The son-in-law appeared only after midnight.
VANarbut’s wife, who wrote an SMS to the girlfriend who remained with him until her husband’s return and called, although the calls were rejected, placed accents elsewhere. Raimonda I.’s body was discovered by a Kaunas resident living on a nearby island of Nemunas. Initially, he saw human clothing on the shore of the “Žalgiris” sand. And when he approached, already in the water, among the grass, and the body of a young woman half dressed.
The personality of the deceased was determined according to her documents found here. After finding out that it is 34-year-old Raimonda I. from Šiauliai, video recordings were taken from nearby cameras.
The suspect was revealed after tracking the deceased to a bar near the Kaunas train station. Raimonda I. visited him regularly. Witnesses were also found who saw her in this bar with a woman and a man of similar age.

According to VANarbutas, the conflict on Nemunas Island was not far from the Žalgiris Arena, where at that time the Euroleague matches were played, and they continued to drink beer with Raimonda I., as the latter provoked them to undress. After the first blow fell, the victim prevented him from lying. Until he finally saw that she was no longer reacting to the environment. And very scared, he decided to dispose of the victim’s body by dragging it into the water.
According to forensic experts, after the VANarbut violence, Raimonda I. would have survived many for a maximum of four hours without ever being thrown into the water because she had a serious health problem. Due to this condition, thrown still alive into the water, she got drunk. In addition, signs of strangulation were found on the neck of the murdered person.
VANarbut, previously convicted of theft and robbery (for the first time as a minor), was released just a year before that fateful night. The mother of the murdered asked to be sentenced to 50 thousand. EUR moral consideration.
Only half a year after VANarbut’s release, the Kupiškis district police, where he resided, although he came from the Kaišiadorys district, launched another pre-trial investigation against him. The prosecutor Virginijus Mizaras offered VANarbuta imprisoned, who was sentenced to seven to fifteen years in prison for the murder of Raimondas I.

The Appeal Court panel of judges Linas Šiukšta, Albinas Bielskis and Alenas Piesliakas, who examined the murder mother’s complaint, announced on Thursday that a colleague from the District Court had imposed a fair sentence on VANarbutas. And the grandparents rejected the complaint.
With this decision of the Court of Appeal, VANarbut’s verdict became final. However, for the State attorney appointed to do so, during the examination of the complaint of the mother of his victim, VANarbut also received 180 euros for said service.
