“I was hit on the head once and broke a bone in my eye socket. The father walked away, saw and fainted. I had surgery and my friends, coaches and parents had already canceled it. At that time, I lacked motivation for the sport, so I really thought my career was over, because I couldn’t have headaches anymore, ”the 22-year-old recalls.

“After the operation, I went to rehabilitate my grandmother and for a month I only played computer games. Besides sports, I felt emptiness, so every time my grandmother didn’t see me, I would go to the greenhouse to do contractions, to move. When I came back from my grandmother, my parents forbade me to train, but I kept asking, begging and apologizing for letting me do sports again. Unbeknownst to my mother, I participated in the tournament, won it and returned to the ring, ”recalls Rimkenzo.

Although D. Rimkus has already amassed a fairly solid personal collection of trophies for his accomplishments in various tournaments, he is best known by many not for his achievements in the ring, but for his comeback performances reminiscent of stage performances. Why is Rimkenzo doing this?

“I see it as a personal fulfillment, that surprises people and I want it to be interesting to see for myself. In this way, I multiply my sense of responsibility tenfold, because after such an entry, I just can’t lose. You made that entrance, you got up, you did publicity and you stepped into the ring with the idea that you should win, ”said D. Rimkus.

“Victory is much sweeter if it is so public. When I was younger, I had a lot of fear of defeat and some kind of criticism, which made me hide from people that my competition was happening. Later, I made it my goal to sell the most tickets in kickboxing, so we started advertising the fights in an interesting way, ”recalls Rimkenzo.

The athlete agrees with the statement that in Lithuanian sport, as in the world of country music, everyone knows each other. However, this generates intrigue behind the scenes of sports, and not everyone likes the theatrical arrival of D. Rimkus to the ring.

“Everyone knows each other, especially in kickboxing, and there are definitely all kinds of intrigues: one does not like one, the other seems a little crooked … Sometimes I feel jealous of other fighters and I get comments like ‘you are like this here, and still no achievements. “But I want to enjoy the process now, not when I am champion,” says the fighter.

Although D. Rimkus, who has been winning successions one after another, uses his theatrical performances to remind him of his performances in the ring, the same fighter prepares for the competition before each fight by following a week-long celibacy.

“In the week leading up to the competition, I try to stay celibate. I once read on the internet that (sex – aut. Past) is very distressing and takes a lot of energy. After all, you finish and want to sleep, at least that’s always my case. I tried for a month, but I didn’t understand it, very hard. Often, the girls get upset, specifically when sending the photos that they offer to the guests. It really changes your leg sometimes, “said D Rimkus.

How D. Rimkus, who calls himself “phlegmatic”, found himself in martial arts, why his mother did not like that profession and why he likes to play “psychological games” with his opponents, you will find out this Sunday at 20:45 on the program “My Entertainment FACES” only on DELFI TV.
