Judo War: arrows on both sides: threat to the courts, accuse illegal competition | sports

15 minutes Less than a day ago, he received an appeal from the National Judo Agency (NDA), which opposes the Lithuanian Judo Federation (LDF), accusing the federation of pressure, banning participation in the Lithuanian Championship and even hacking. the registration accounts of the championship participants.

The NDA says it has decided to contact the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and will initiate various legal proceedings.

In less than a day 15 minutes He also received a response from the LDF, accusing the NDA of organizing illegal Lithuanian youth championships and referring to the request to the country’s authorities regarding the activities of the NDA.

We offer versions on both sides.

NDA report (uncorrected language):

Recent events, the Lithuanian Judo Federation championships organized on weekends in February, also confirmed that there is no peace in judo sports.
For almost three years, there has been a never-ending debate in the public sphere between the two organizations: the Lithuanian Judo Federation, an international judo federation recognized but uniting only a dozen (16) real-life judo clubs, and the National Judo Federation. Judo Association, which represents the majority (50 out of 80 judo members). Organizations).
The Youth and Sports Commission of the Seimas and the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science also mentioned the real problems of athletes to be solved.
The National Judo Association has repeatedly offered various forms of cooperation to the federation to solve the problems of the sport of judo in the country. In January, instead of confrontation, it was proposed to merge the potential of the two organizations: international and national recognition. This was also supported by the sports authorities of the country. Unfortunately, all of a sudden, the Judo Federation received the support of the LTOK.
Three weeks ago, the leaders of both organizations and the LTOK president sat down for the interview. One of the LTOK’s missions is “to ensure compliance with the Olympic Charter in their countries”, so the discussion itself had to turn towards the violated rights of athletes. Unfortunately, the Judo Federation received relatively informal but clear support, which undermined the role of the National Judo Association in the development of the country’s judo sport and ignored information about the Judo Federation’s abuse of power throughout. over the years in violation of the rights of athletes.
That “support” gave the green light to the federation’s attack movement. The federation, the “only legitimate” self-positioned judo organization, appealed to the sports centers and gyms subordinate to the municipalities or the SMSM for the forced participation of their athletes in the federation’s championships.
Already in the first competition of the federation, which is presented as an open Lithuanian championship, in which representatives of all organizations and countries can participate, the federation started from the incident.
Association representatives suffered persecution for association-provided black belts while participating in the adult championship as guests. Some athletes were forced to remove their black belts in order to compete. And only after Lithuanian Olympian Karolis Bauža categorically refused to comply with the illegal claim, the attacks by the federation representatives ended.
The Association athletes and coaches, while participating in the Federation Championship, issued an official statement to the sports authorities of the country that they are forced to participate in the Federation competition for one of the following reasons:
• are threatened with obstacles to participate in international competitions;
• Many budget agencies use the old process of providing coaches and athletes with indicators of excellence;
• on the decisions of the leaders of sports organizations, without taking into account the opinions of coaches and athletes.
The Federation attack also carried over to this weekend’s open youth and youth championships. At the association’s goodwill gesture – 134 athletes were officially sent to the youth competition, the federation responded with a wink. 78 athletes from the association were banned from competing. The official reason is that the athletes did not have budo passports issued by the federation. It is difficult to explain the absurdity of a situation where a federation that insists that a country’s athletes participate in its championships open to athletes outside their federation and an independent organization begins to require certificates used within the federation. The competition organizers did not create such obstacles for athletes from other countries, unlike Lithuanian athletes, whose mastery met the requirements of the competition regulations and was approved in advance by the official application of the association.
This is not the only blink of an eye. Before the start of the competition, it was clear that the registration accounts of the championship participants had been hacked and the data of the participants had been modified. It is likely that the federation did not coincide with the athletes’ affiliation with the National Judo Association.
In an open display of hostility on the part of the federation, the judo clubs belonging to the association did not participate in the youth championship (under 15 years) in order to protect their children from the attacks that awaited them in the competition. Excluding athletes from the association, only 76 participants appeared in the largest age group with up to 250 participants.
After evaluating the events of recent weeks, the National Judo Association, which is committed to protecting the rights of athletes and coaches in accordance with its statutes, has decided to contact the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and initiate several Legal procedures:
1. Violations of the rights and dignity of athletes during the LDF Adult Open Championship;
2. Violation of the athletes’ rights by not allowing them to participate in the competition during the LDF Youth Open Championship;
3. Regarding the cancellation of the results of the LDF Open Youth Championship;
4. For hacking the accounts of legal persons.

LDF message (uncorrected language):

The Lithuanian Judo Federation has received signals about the competition scheduled for this Saturday, March 6 in Plungė, called the Lithuanian Youth Championship aloud. The federation sees this event not only as misleading to the public, but also as potentially illegal and in violation of the laws of the country.

The Lithuanian Judo Federation intends to address the responsible national and international sports organizations in the near future, as well as to draw the attention of the country’s police authorities to the audacious deception of the sports community and the possible abuse of the concept of excellence. higher. These actions were triggered by a competition held on Saturday March 6 in Plungė, called the Lithuanian Youth Judo Championships, organized by the NDA, an organization that opposes the federation. These competitions have nothing to do with the official and legally recognized national judo championships. Only the official national judo federation (LDF) has the right to host such national championships. This has been repeatedly confirmed by both the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the European Judo Union (EJU). These days, in his letter to the Lithuanian media, IJF General Secretary Jean-Lucas Rouge once again emphasized that the activities of the NDA in our country are not and will not be recognized and legitimized by international institutions.

“We are surprised by such arrogant manipulations. Neither an international federation nor an organization not recognized by the sports institutions of our country has decided to appropriate the Lithuanian championship. I have no doubt that these people understand that such competitions can only be organized by the federation. country official. Otherwise, according to their logic, they could well declare that they are organizing an American or Japanese judo championship. Because neither there nor here they have permits or powers. However, these citizens still deceive the community and sports institutions, fragmenting the judo community. We believe this is a deliberate malicious act for which they will have to answer, “said Lig President Vigmantas Sinkevičius.

According to him, the LDF had come to the information that the scope of the misrepresentation had already exceeded the legal limits. After all, athletes and coaches from some clubs participating in NDA competitions, which are not recognized anywhere, not only award master’s degrees that have no legal status, but also claim state or municipal benefits. For example, when district athletic centers present their accomplishments at NDA events of unclear value and legitimacy, they attempt to justify various benefits: training fees, business travel allowances, food allowances, and so on.

By the way, late last year, when the country’s government tightened quarantine conditions, all physical activities were banned. The exceptions apply only to activities of greater sport dominance. Following the debate, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (MESM) has sent a call to sports leaders not to abuse the concept of greater excellence. The SMSM also recalled a number of factual indications that could be used to identify that an organization could demonstrate that it is undertaking exercises and competitions of greater mastery. The first point mentioned: the organization receives grants from the state budget for the implementation of the highest excellence program. The NDA does not meet this criterion. As well as the fact that the organization must be recognized by international federations. The competition must also be included in the annual competition calendar of the official national federation.

“We are convinced that this NDA competition in Plungė does not meet the concept of superior sportsmanship. Therefore, during the quarantine period, they cannot be held even if they do not call themselves the Lithuanian Championship, and even more so under a misleading name. Due to all these manipulations, we would also like to draw the attention of the Plungė municipality administration, as there is no guarantee that cases of COVID-19 or elemental injuries will not be registered during the massive competitions that are held in your city. I wonder who will take responsibility for these cases ”, asked V. Sinkevičius.
