The third group of candidates for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, their coaches and doctors were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Vilnius on Monday.

Athletes and their team members included in the vaccinated priority list were divided into three groups by government decree. The first two, a total of 155 people, were vaccinated in February.

Representatives from the sports of basketball, athletics, wrestling and swimming, their coaches, doctors and service personnel were vaccinated on Monday. A total of 55 people.

A total of 290 Olympic and Paralympic team candidates, their coaches and doctors are expected to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Due to the training and competition schedule, those who could not join the first three groups will be vaccinated separately.

The groups of people to be vaccinated are based on the lists of athletes and members of their team prepared for the Olympic and Paralympic Games provided by the sports federations.

Vaccinated people should receive a second dose of AstraZeneca after 35 days.

Candidates for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games teams, their coaches and doctors were included in the priority list of vaccinated on the recommendation of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.

The Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8.
