Three Lithuanians reached the final of the pentathlon tournament

The Lithuanian delegation moved to Hungary from Spain, where they participated in an international training camp.

The traditional tournament in Budapest always brings together a lot of IT capable pentathletes from all over the world, and they got together a lot this year too. On the first day of the competition, a women’s selection competition took place in the Hungarian capital, in which Gintarė Venčkauskaitė, Ieva Serapinaitė and Aurelija Tamašauskaitė successfully participated. Our entire trio made it to the final.

A. Tamašauskaitė, who started in selection group A, scored 1066 points and took first place. In the swimming match, Vilnius ranked 26th (2: 27.23; 256 points), in fencing, ninth (16 wins / 11 losses; 226), and running and shooting, first (11: 56.69; 584). Other Group A awards went to the French Elodie Clouvel (1055) and the Italian Elena Micheli (1054).

In group B, G. Venčkauskaitė scored 1051 points and took second place. Only the Russian representative Gulnaz Gubaidulina (1057) was better than Kaunas, and the Hungarian Sarolta Kovacs (1050) was third.

G. Venčkauskaitė was 11th in swimming (2:16, 21; 278), 19th in fencing (12/16; 186) and first in running and shooting (11: 53,71; 587).

I. Serapinaitė scored 1034 points in the selection contest and was ranked ninth. Vilnetė was eighth while swimming, second – fencing (8/20; 250) and 26 – running and shooting (13: 18,92; 502).

There will be a men’s qualifying competition in Hungary on Sunday with the participation of David Vaivada.
