The head of the NVSC intends to appeal the decision on the imposition of a penalty for service to a court.

“The director of the National Center for Public Health Robertas Petraitis does not agree with the study’s findings. His explanations were not taken into account. R. Petraitis intends to appeal the decision on the imposition of an official sanction in court” says Austina Vžesniauskaitė, specialist from the NVSC’s Internal Administration Division, in a comment sent to Elta.

The conclusion of the official evaluation of R. Petraitis, which the Ministry of Health shared with ELTA, emphasizes that due to the inaction of the head of the NVSC, the necessary data is not properly processed, systematized and delivered to other institutions.

It is also observed that the director, by not complying with the orders established in the orders only, with his actions ignores and does not comply with the normative legal acts that create rights and obligations for all participants in the legal relationship. A reprimand was issued to the head of the NVSC for the reasons set out in the staff report.

This decision of the Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkis can be appealed to the Vilnius Regional Administrative Court within one month from the date of receipt of the order in accordance with the procedure established by the Law on Administrative Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania.

ELTA recalls that 804 missing deaths were found during the digitization of NVSC activities. Therefore, Minister A. Dulkys asked NVSC Director R. Petraitis to provide written explanations on certain issues. After receiving explanations from the head of the NVSC, A. Dulkys instructed the SAM experts to evaluate the responses and submit proposals. After receiving the expert evaluation, the Minister of Health offered R. Petraitis to resign voluntarily from his current position, but the head of the NVSC did not agree. The Ministry of Health, after evaluating the situation, decided to initiate an investigation into the possible violation of official duties by the head of the NVSC R. Petraitis.
