In Lithuania – another R5

Giedrius Notkus, Viada-Multi FX team boss and racer, shared this message with the Lithuanian rally community. He was pleased that the team was able to purchase an R5 car with the help of partners. According to the Lithuanian rally champion, the new Jonas Sluckus Škoda Fabia R5 will arrive in Lithuania from Ireland, where preparation is being completed.

“This is the Fabia R5 made by Škoda Motorsport. It is one of the most popular rally cars in the world, so it is very gratifying to have such a car appear in our team. We have been negotiating with KG Motorsport in Ireland for a long time to buy this one. car.

This car will be driven by Jonas Sluckus, because some “trade” has been done. Your EVO X will depart for Ireland and the Škoda Fabia R5 will arrive in Lithuania. I’m happy for John that our team is getting stronger with such a great and fast car. Of course, it will take a lot of work, training, you will need to learn not only to manage it, but also to supervise it. Together, we will help John achieve the best possible results. Of course, I hope that Jonas gives me this test during training, “said Giedrius Notkus.

Training is expected to start in April

Jonas Sluckus, who started his rally career in 2016, claimed that he was eager to try the new purchase, having bought an R5 caliber car without driving a similar rally car until now.

The racer claims that he only had to drive an N5 car, so he will have to get used to the R5 car. But the racer hopes to warm his feet at the helm of the new purchase before the start of the rally season.

“I think the dream of every driver participating in the Lithuanian rally is to get in such a car and drive. To improve, you need to increase your skills, abilities and knowledge, but at the same time you need to improve your technique. The R5 is not yet ready. has driven. I only tried the N5. I spoke with other riders and decided to buy an R5 if possible. I am glad that our team partners supported this idea, without whose help it would be difficult to imagine such changes.

Now let’s wait for the car to arrive. We plan to bring it to Lithuania in March. You will need to be prepared and, weather and quarantine conditions permitting, we will begin testing from mid-April. I think it will take time to get used to the car. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m not naively expecting a quick and easy adaptation. We will have to work, ”Jonas Sluckus shared his impressions.

The team hopes to also acquire a second R5

Team driver Giedrius Notkus was delighted that more and more R5 cars were appearing in the skies of the Lithuanian rally. According to the rally champion, this forces other competitors to upgrade and look at more advanced equipment, and because of the attractive image created by R5 cars, both the rally organizers and the spectators and partners who cooperate with the teams win.

The Panevėžys resident claims that he is also talking to the Viada-Multi FX team partners about the possibility of buying another R5 category car, in which he would already be sitting with co-driver Dalius Strižanas.

“There is a good trend that those R5 cars are getting a little cheap every year and are becoming more accessible not just for teams with extremely large budgets. I hope that with the help of the partners we can buy something similar in the near future. We are negotiating this. Of course, this requires a lot of money and one partner usually cannot bear such a financial burden, so we are looking for more companies that can join our team and contribute to the goal of having two R5 cars in the team garage. “Viada-Multi FX said” Team driver Giedrius Notkus.

Previously, the team also announced composition changes this year. Saulius Trapuila, returning to the rally, will join the team and replace the brother duo Simaškės.
