When the body of Audrius Remeikis, the director of the municipal administration of the Utena district, was found on Tuesday, the cause of his death remains shrouded in a mystery, which will be revealed only after experts present their findings. But the district mayor did not hide his knowledge that blood had been found in the remains of the deceased.
As the mayor of the Utena district, Alvydas Katinas, told journalists on the portal, before the disaster A. Remeikis had a sick leave certificate for some time, which lasted until February 26.
“On Thursday or Friday he informed me by phone that he planned to receive treatment in Vilnius due to health problems and that returning to work may take time. I felt comforted, I said that I would take care of my health, a conversation like this took place ”, said the politician.
Speaking of his colleague, A. Katinas stated that A. Remeikis was a hard worker, diligent, willing to do everything rationally, fairly and legally. It is no secret that you need to have the so-called thick skin in power. He did everything very diligently, very honestly, probably taking it seriously. According to the politician, the day the news of the disappearance of the administration director reached him, there was anxiety in his heart, although it was known that A. Remeikis was in favor of the active life – he walked a lot, he liked cycling. to the community, he volunteered at animal shelters. “The man, as they say, is not a young man, he did not go anywhere, he did not stay. We all feel anxious, because the person did not come back the second day, he did not show up … ”- said A. Katinas.
Speaking of A. Remeikis, the mayor of the Utena district said that he did not realize that he was a person in conflict or even that someone else attacked him. “I have no idea that he would have had enemies here on earth to kill him or something like that. I would highly doubt those things based on two years of shared work experience,” he said.
On Tuesday, volunteers from the local community joined the search for the managing director along with services, shooters and municipal employees. According to the mayor of the district municipality of Utena, some 200 people were mobilized for this purpose. When A. Remeikis’s body was found, A. Katinas did not hide after learning of the blood in the deceased’s remains.

Representatives of the prosecution were not asked to reveal any further details about the death of A.
