The director of the administration of the municipality of Utena, who went to the park and disappeared, was found dead

On Tuesday afternoon, Utena County Police announced that they had found the body of Audrius Remeikis, the director of the Utena District Municipality Administration, who had been missing for nearly 24 hours.

Earlier it was announced that the police, together with public assistance, began the search for A. Remeikis at 1 in the afternoon and soon the body of a man was found in the forest, near his usual place of walking.

The searches were then stopped, waiting for loved ones to go to the body to be identified.

On Tuesday morning it was announced that A. Remeikis, born in 1969, had left the house on Taikos Street for a walk in Aukštakalnis Park on Monday morning at 7.30 am.

At approximately 4 pm, the police received a report of his disappearance.

Utena Mayor Alvydas Katinas told BNS that A. Remeikis had not been able to work due to health problems in recent weeks and that this week he was going to Vilnius for treatment.

The police have launched a pre-trial investigation to determine the cause of death.
