World premiere of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 power plant: fast charging and very spacious

[ad_1]

Since Hyundai’s previous electric car models (Kona, Ioniq) have performed well in the market due to their efficiency and relatively high mileage with a relatively small battery, the introduction of the new Ioniq 5 CUV (crossover) has really attracted interest. .

As the manufacturers stated, this model was shown in full light for the first time, as previously only individual details were revealed. Immediately noticeable are the rather sharp convergent dynamics, the body shape and the significantly longer wheelbase. And even 20-inch wheels!

Plus, it’s similar to Tesla’s protruding door handle and (not in all markets) cameras that have replaced traditional mirrors.

During the presentation, Hyundai representatives drew attention to the spaciousness of the Ioniq 5’s cabin. It’s like their starting site. Not only spacious, but also with many finishing and comfort options. The space is extracted by sliding not only the seats but also the entire center console. Manufacturers also pay attention to completely flat floors.

The luggage compartment capacity is 531 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the capacity can be increased to almost 1,600 liters.

The instrument panel consists of two 12-inch screens, similar to a Mercedes. One for information relevant to the driver and the other for entertainment and settings. The Ioniq 5 also features a gear stick mounted to the stick behind the steering wheel, as well as a projected glass screen with augmented reality support.

The Ioniq 5 is a true electric vehicle, with an electric-only platform, so it also has a small front boot. Its capacity depends on whether it is a model with rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. The RWD has a larger body of 57 liters, while the AWD model has a capacity of 24 liters.

The new Ioniq 5 is 4,635 millimeters (182.5 inches) long and has a long wheelbase (3000 mm or 118.1 inches). The midsize crossover is 1,890 mm (74.4 inches) wide and 1,605 mm (63.2 inches) high.

Fast charge

The Ioniq 5 has a high-efficiency 800-volt built-in charger. It is currently only available on the market for Porsche Taycan (and AUDI). And the 800 volt voltage means that the Ioniq 5, and later other Korean electric cars built on the E-GMP basis, will have an extremely fast charge. By the way, the charging sockets are mounted on both sides of the body.

In the DC type station it will reach 232 kWh. Hyundai representatives say that such a current will allow the battery to charge enough energy to cover a distance of 100 km in just 5 minutes. 10 to 80 percent battery life. can be charged in 18 minutes.

Electric cars built on the new E-GMP platform will have 2 types of batteries: 58 or 73 kW of useful capacity. The Ioniq 5 with a larger battery will be able to cover up to 487 km according to WLTP on a single charge.
