“Looking at current trends, the situation in Europe is starting to get worse and it is not improving in Lithuania either. We need to make decisions and allow institutions to operate safely, everyone does.

Here in Lithuania we are trying to keep everyone closed. Release those decisions a bit, but looking at the current philosophy of the Government, they will close everything again soon, ”confirmed R. Karbauskis on Monday, criticizing the tactics of the decisions taken by the Government.

Draw a sad script

According to R. Karbauskis, political will must be followed in decision-making. According to the politician, the pandemic is now managed on the basis of figures.

“Those numbers are getting worse and consequently we are reappearing in some setting. We have tried to say this before, and it is worth reiterating that the idea that a scenario based solely on numbers must be traced back to the fact that there is political will. It cannot be based on numbers alone, which means the simplest math operations.

We have to talk about the fact that spring and summer are approaching, and those numbers may mean that many things will not open with us until the autumn, ”the head of the shadow government is considering.

R. Karbauskis assures that sports clubs and other institutions are open in other places, and should not be considered closed until autumn: “If we say today in Lithuania that sports centers may not open until autumn, I do not imagine that other institutions will react. Because they are open elsewhere. “

In evaluating the government’s actions to try to control the pandemic, R. Karbauskis added that the economy suffered considerable losses.

“The current increase in the number of diseases shows that those measures that were considered fair by the Government do not have the required effect, and the losses to our economy are already enormous,” said R. Karbauskis.

Propose guidelines to the government

The shadow prime minister, R. Karbauskis, and the minister of economy and innovation, Deividas Labanavičius, assure that the quarantine management guidelines will be prepared and presented to the government. They will indicate when and under what conditions sports clubs or department stores could open.

D. Labanavičius claims that he was approached by owners and coaches of sports clubs. According to them, sports clubs should not be closed and the support received is not calculated correctly.

“Their activities must be carried out in accordance with safety measures, thus improving people’s physical, emotional and psychological well-being. Sports club owners are paying attention to the support provided, which is calculated according to the paid GPM of 2019.

However, the activities of most sports clubs before the pandemic were based on full self-service. Having pass cards allowed the administrative staff to waive this. Coaches also often served under individual activity contracts. Therefore, rents, utility bills and other liabilities form the main part of the costs ”, assures D. Labanavičius and adds that non-food stores with an area of more than 300 square meters. meters.

I don’t forget the stores

Larger stores, according to the shadow minister for Economy and Innovation, would need to reorganize departments and divide the store area into certain service areas.

“The merchants are determined to reorganize the departments, divide the store into separate zones, which would guarantee 20sq. Meters of service area per customer.

They are also committed to investing in counting apps for people in the room, sanitizing the room, shortening or extending store hours. A separate business area would have to have its own separate entrance, thus differing from stores that are allowed to work only in that they belong to the same legal entity, ”taught D. Labanavičius.

The president of the shadow government, R. Karbauskis, agrees with the following guidelines proposed by D. Labanavičius and adds that it is necessary to follow the mind now, not the numbers:

“We are trying to send updated quarantine management guidelines to the government, we are trying to say we need to discuss, we need to listen. Ultimately, it should be guided by the mind, not just the numbers. At this point, common sense says. that we are in a position that shows that the path chosen by the Government is wrong ”.
