In Klaipeda – increased air pollution: avoid being outdoors

[ad_1]

February 22-23. Unfavorable meteorological conditions prevail for the dispersion of pollutants from the ambient air. Pollutant concentrations have been rising steadily across the country since Sunday (February 21) due to mass transfer of polluted air from the south. High concentrations (eg, PM2.5; NO2) may persist for several days this week, reported the Klaipeda City Public Health Office.

It is reported that today the air quality measuring stations of the city of Klaipeda recorded surpluses of the daily norm for particulate matter. The daily rate of particulate matter in the air is 50 μg / m3, but at the Šilutė motorway station the concentration is now 61.33 μg / m3 and at the city center station the concentration is 51.69 μg / m3.

The increase in air pollution may have been influenced by pollution from power companies, individual home heating equipment, and transportation.

It is recommended not to work or do intensive sports outdoors. Children should not be allowed to go outside in the event of increased particulate air pollution. We do not recommend ventilating your home in the late hours of the night, and if you are not feeling well, seek medical attention.
