The company announced Monday that it plans to invest 7 million. After reconstruction, the area of 2898 square meters of hangar will reach 5500 square meters, 200 new jobs will be created.

Currently, the project is being evaluated by a government commission that inspects transactions important to national security.

“Verification procedures are currently underway for the planned investments of VA Reals, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group. As soon as the information collected during the verification procedure is received, the commission will convene a meeting,” said Rasa Jakilaitienė, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister, on the SNB.

In recent years, Lithuanian national security authorities have been wary of investments by Avia Solutions Group, managed by businessman Gediminas Žiemelis, due to its previous operations at Moscow’s Zhukovsky Airport.

The group of companies claims that in 2018 it severed all ties with the Zhukovsky airport project and sold its stake in the company that operated the airport.

“This decision was also reported to the Government’s National Security Commission,” the press release said.

According to the report, all business development projects are funded by Avia Solutions Group and investments attracted by institutional investors in the US and UK markets.
