Tel Aviv’s Maccabi achieved a dramatic victory in the Israel Cup semifinals after extra time. 87:85 (20:15, 15:21, 15:25, 22:11, 15:13) broke the Hapoel Club of Holon.
The first half of the match was even and after a long break the outsiders who escaped broke away with a very solid lead: 61:45. Maccabi strategist Ioannis Sfairopoulos made no secret of his discontent.

In the fourth quarter, the Tel Aviv club failed to score for four minutes (50:66), but managed to recover fantastically and start extra time – 72:72.
In the additional section, Maccabi took advantage of the psychological advantage, but left the opponents a chance to equalize the result in the last attack – 84:81. Tel Avivo eliminated the opportunity with a foul and ended the match exchanging free throws.
The winners were scored by Oz Blayzer, 15 by Scottie Wilbekin and 13 by Yovel Zoosman.
Holon scored 21 points for Tyrus McGee, 18 for CJ Harris and 17 for Guy Pnini.
In the final, the Tel Aviv club will meet Rishon Lezion’s Maccabi team, who presented a surprise and eliminated Jerusalem’s Hapoel trained by Dainius Adomaitis.
