According to the State Food and Veterinary Service (SFVS), representatives of the Pasvalys District Municipality, SFVS and the police found 53 unsupervised pets in the inspected facilities in Pasvalys District: 39 cats and 14 dogs, all transferred to temporary guardians of animals.
“The inspection revealed that the animals were kept in completely inadequate conditions that put their health and well-being at risk. The animals are not sterilized, so their numbers have steadily increased, “the report said.
According to SFVS, the animals were fed and fed improperly. The caretaker had no cat food and something for dogs. Housing conditions were assessed not to meet even the minimal needs of the animals and were not subject to mandatory veterinary care.
“Animals have not been vaccinated against rabies, they have not been given prophylactic drugs against internal and external parasites, and sick animals have not received veterinary treatment, so some of them are in danger of death. Some cats were infected with parasites and had obvious skin and eye damage. A seriously ill dog captured during the inspection died while providing the necessary assistance in a veterinary clinic ”, announces the service.
The SFVS emphasizes that keeping animals without meeting their physiological needs, improper feeding, treatment when necessary, and other actions that can cause pain, suffering, or even death to animals are considered cruel treatment to animals.
