After the first quarantine release, Šimonytė addressed the people: I have two requests

“As announced on Monday, today the government has adopted decisions that will allow certain service sectors and part of the non-food trade to operate as of Monday. On that occasion, I have two requests.

The first for those who are going to start providing services or trading as of next week. I urge you to take the opportunity to do a trial run before starting work, so that it is absolutely safe and calm to start working with clients, ”asked the Prime Minister.

He recalled that the Operations Manager offered the possibility of doing it at mobile points by registering in 1808 or online. They are not mandatory, but they will be free, so it is highly recommended to do them.

“I also ask for compliance with current security requirements. (…) Because by implementing all this we could ensure that services are provided safely,” said the Head of Government.

She made the request to customers who hope to use certain services or buy.

“I also have a request for clients who plan to visit service providers and places, I would very much like to evaluate the need to use the services from next week. As the recommendation to avoid unnecessary contacts remains, it is still relevant, because dozens people die every day, “said I. Šimonytė. The Prime Minister also recalled that hospitals are still significantly full.

He stressed that we must all work to improve the situation.

“This is a way to avoid the third quarantine, which the government would like to avoid with all its might,” Prime Minister I. Šimonytė said.

The full quarantine mitigation plan is available here.

Both at the government meeting and at the press conference, I. Šimonytė stated that it should not be forgotten that the epidemiological situation may not change for the better.

“It takes 2 weeks to see the changes. Decisions made today will go into effect. But we will closely follow where the new cases are coming from. I would not like that to be the case, but it is a possible situation, judging from the experience of other countries, that we will not be able to make some layoffs at that time as it seems we could do now. (…) This may happen and it may be necessary to consider an additional adjustment. But I don’t want to say nonsense, because first we have to see what the practical impact will be, “said the Prime Minister.

Verify indicators and monitor quarantine

Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys stated that although Lithuania has an area little affected by the coronavirus strain, preparations are underway.

“The plan of measures to change the quarantine regime and its entirety, its coherence and reflects our strategy as we look at it. And the decision is that we will measure, we will check the indicators at that rate every week, we will see if there is a need for even stricter measures. Mutations are still an under-experienced area for us, we can only be glad that we do not see their operation in Lithuania, but the Government has already made the right decisions about the sequencing of the research in Lithuania. I hope that our contribution gives us more answers ”, he said.

The minister said that currently the possibility of the spread of a new strain of the virus in the country is not observed.

“The general trends that we see so far seem to be that we do not have that problem in Lithuania at least for the moment, so we want to look very carefully at the change in measures and monitor the situation,” said A. Dulkys.
