One of the most important obstacles, according to businessmen and culturalists interviewed by BNS, are the quarantine restrictions on cultural and artistic activities.

Lauras Lučiūnas, the owner of the Creative Industries company, who showed interest in this object in the discussion of the upcoming competition, told BNS with his partners from the world of art and sports that he is seriously considering participating in the rental competition.

“We are probably planning to participate, but we are looking at it very carefully and responsibly. I have a group of experts who are trying to deduct the benefits and amortization from whether those two years (lease – BNS) are realistic. We don’t want to participate just to get involved. If we participate, we generally produce something, we do it, “L. Lučiūnas told BNS.

According to L.Lučiūnas, the association of private companies, which would include him and several other companies, has a clear vision of what would work in Lukiškės.

“We have a very clear vision of musical and sporting events, activities that could reside there. This would be a “big ball” here, let’s say, “said the Creative Industries owner.

According to him, one of the biggest challenges and problems in competition continues to be quarantine restrictions.

“The main nuance is the pandemic period and the existing bans. If, let’s say, we win the tender, we have to pay the rent, but we cannot develop the activity, it would be very unprofitable for us, ”said L. Lučiūnas.

The limitations of the pandemic and short lease terms raise most questions for another potential tenant: the Vilnius Center for Art and Technology.

“According to the rating, we would meet, but the liabilities are quite high: 20 thousand. Euro rent, then utilities, security, comprehensive management of the object. In a word, managing that project about 50 thousand. EUR per month, so that income is needed to cover those costs. So far, this does not seem to be a very inspiring situation, “said Darius Žakaitis, director of the center, at BNS.

According to him, although the center had many plans and conversations about this object, for the moment it would be more inclined not to participate than to participate in the competition.

“We are still thinking. I have time. Very unattractive conditions – short term (lease – BNS), high obligations, at the same time quarantining the whole situation, verbally, we are not very impressed. And basically there is a term: we are not brokers short distance, what can they do there in two years ”, explained D. Žakaitis.

Cultural figures who have shown interest in solving the Lukiškės prison in the past are also considering entering the contest. Vilma Ramanauskienė, director of the Vilnius Kirtimai Cultural Center, said that there are no concrete solutions yet.

“Our wishes and dreams are very big and it is necessary to evaluate opportunities, especially financial matters. (…) We have a coping plan that is quite attractive, but it is based on reality, on finances, on legal matters, so for now we are seeing if the specified conditions are met or if we will deliver it. Our founder is a municipality, so his word should not be the last, “he told BNS.

According to V.Ramanauskienė, about 400 square meters M. The center, which is now one meter in size, is a “dwarf”, so it would only compete with partners.

18.7 thousand kv. meters from the old prison building complex along with an area of 2.2 hectares, the Property Bank wishes to lease for two years.

Bidders must be at least two years old of at least 4 thousand. kv. meters of experience in non-residential management. The initial rental price is 0.97 euros per square meter. meters (without VAT), and the initial contribution of the bidder – 21.97 thousand. EUR (VAT included).

It is announced that it will be possible to carry out educational, cultural, artistic, scientific and other activities in the complex.

According to Turto bankas, the Lukiškės prison complex is temporarily rented out until it is ready for long-term management.

Lukiškės prison complex, which stood out in 1904, has six buildings: St. Nicholas Wonder Church, administrative, production facilities, prison, as well as a prison-hospital built in the Soviet era, a fence with a checkpoint. They are included in the Register of cultural assets and have the status of a national cultural asset.

The complex was used as a custodial institution until the summer of 2019, later excursions were made here, and the prison was used as an attractive space for the filming of foreign series and films.
